Rest easy, everyone! Singer Jennifer Hudson denies being in the Illuminati, the centuries-old secret society that some (read: conspiracy theorists and/or nutbars) credit with bestowing fame on a lucky few. “I’m so glad someone brought this Illuminati mess up because only a child of God would address it,” Hudson told fans during a Ustream chat session. “That is the most ignorant thing I have ever heard in my life. And it’s offensive because basically what? The people that are here today don’t deserve to be where they are? What, we didn’t work for it?” We certainly don’t think someone as talented as Hudson would have had to join the dark arts to win an Academy Award. Megan Fox, however, seems like she might have their number on speed dial.
While she might not have signed up for a lifetime membership, Hudson seems to be under the impression that the Illuminati is both 1) real and 2) something anyone can join, like Bally’s. “Don’t listen to that type of stuff, don’t follow that stuff because those people are only luring you in to become a part of some mess like that, so know that you’re only falling victim,” Hudson, who released her new single “Where You At?” this week, cautioned her listeners. “That’s their way of gaining followers. I’d advise you to stay away from it. Those who are reading it are falling into it. It could not be more untrue.” So in case the Illuminati comes up to you at the mall, do not get in their van!
