We were going to swing by CVS to buy a product that helps prevent skin cancer, but decided not to after we heard Dr. Gisele Bundchen call sunscreen “poison.” You would think after Gisele apologized for her breastfeeding comments she would have learned her lesson, but girl cannot stop acting like she has a medical degree from Johns Hopkins. “I cannot put this poison on my skin. I do not use anything synthetic,” Gisele sniffed while promoting her new organic skin line Sejaa. Instead, Gisele reportedly tans before 8:00 a.m. when the sun’s rays are less damaging, presumably because it is still night time.
Now actual experts are rushing to deny Bundchen’s off-hand remarks. “Sunscreen prevents damage to the skin and is of fundamental importance for the prevention of cancer. This is not any poison, when a public person makes a statement like this, it creates confusion,” Dolival Lao of Brazil’s Nation Cancer Institute warns. Sure, humans weren’t born with a bottle of sunblock in their hands, but then again humans spent most of history living in caves and dying at age 35. So maybe some synthetic things might be beneficial? Ugh, now Gisele is going to start rubbing dirt and berries on her face just to prove her point. And then we’re going to do it too, because seriously, that woman looks fantastic.
