John Galliano, whose Anti-Semitic rants were caught on tape recently, has been fired from his position as head designer for Dior. To make matters worse, Natalie Portman has taken a stand against him as well. Portman, who is the face of Dior and also happens to be Jewish, released a statement condemning Galliano which read:
“I am deeply shocked and disgusted by the video of John Galliano’s comments that surfaced today. In light of this video, and as an individual who is proud to be Jewish, I will not be associated with Mr. Galliano in any way. I hope at the very least, these terrible comments remind us to reflect and act upon combating these still-existing prejudices that are the opposite of all that is beautiful.”
In a more subtle but still a “Suck it, Galliano” move, Portman reportedly was scheduled to wear Dior to the Oscars and changed to a Rodarte dress after hearing about Galliano’s comments. Just another reason she’s the Best Actress this year.
