Look we are all for making unreasonable requests from celebrities we have no connection to (Still waiting on that RSVP for our dinner date, Gina Davis!), but even we understand that not everyone has the twitter genius of a Kanye West or a Charlie Sheen. On Saturday Cokey Cohen, writer for the Yale Daily News, insulted James Franco’s Twitter skills, writing “James Franco, your Twitter sort of sucks” in an opinion piece titled “Franco #getittogether” for the paper. Hey, you can rip on James’ mediocre Oscar hosting or his perpetually closed eyes all you want, but attacking a man’s Twitter habits is like attacking his baby. It’s just inhuman.
In case you thought this was a case of inter-school rivalry (Franco has taken classes at NYU and Columbia, among others), Franco is currently enrolled in Yale’s English PhD program. Things are going to get super awkward at the dining hall! In response to the criticism, and as a means to up his Twitter game ten-fold, Franco tweeted a Yale-bashing photo, an elegant, filthy snapshot on which he scrawled “F–k The Yale Daily News.” Succinct, elegant, and yet still borderline insane. Mr. Sheen, Mr. West, you have an new challenger. We expect nothing but bizarre greatness from you all.
