Lady Gaga has pulled out of a deal with Target in which the retailer would offer an exclusive, deluxe edition of the upcoming Born This Way album in May. Target recently was criticized by some for making political donations to anti-gay politicians, and when the deal was first announced, Gaga said “Part of my deal with Target is that they have to start affiliating themselves with LGBT charity groups and begin to reform and make amends for the mistakes they’ve made in the past. …Our relationship is hinged upon their reform in the company to support the gay community and to redeem the mistakes they’ve made supporting those [antigay] groups.”
The deal fell through when “[Gaga] and Target didn’t see eye to eye on Target’s policy of political donations and how they affect the LGBT community,” a source told The Advocate. Well now we’re torn. We love that Gaga stands up for her principles no matter what, but if Target doesn’t bend on their policies, where else will we buy our Choxie?
