Despite Chris Brown’s chair-throwing meltdown after Good Morning America last week, the singer will indeed be appearing Dancing With The Stars tonight, though host Tom Bergeron doesn’t sound too happy about it. “I did tell the producers it may be to their advantage to not have me interview him,” Bergeron told Ryan Seacrest on his radio show yesterday, “because my natural tendency would be to say something. So, don’t put me in a position where you are asking me not to say something, because I really won’t do that.” Can’t ask a reality competition host not to keep it real!
Though most assume ABC is ignoring Brown’s violent behavior in order to exploit it for ratings, it looks like the network is aware of the potential backlash. The New York Post notes that the press release for tonight’s DWTS episode doesn’t mention Chris Brown until the tenth paragraph, following the dancer bios. With Good Morning America now denying plans to have Brown back on the show, it now sounds like they just want to honor his booking and just move on—if the world and Tom Bergeron will let them.
