Mark Wahlberg To Do Billy Jack Remake?

by Anthony Miccio

Mark Wahlberg‘s desperation for a franchise has been kind of depressing (he’s expressed a desire to do sequels for The Departed, The Fighter, Four Brothers, The Other Guys, The Italian Job…just about every thing except The Happening), but we’ll deal if he gets this one off the ground. The former Marky Mark’s production company has purchased the rights to Billy Jack, the amazing ’60s action epic about a half-Cherokee ex-Green Beret who uses guns and martial arts to defend the hippie-run Freedom School from violent, small-minded townspeople. Are you feeling this? We’re feeling this.

While there’s no guarantee that Wahlberg would actually star in the film (Mark recently bought the novel When Corruption Was King and has two films, Ted and Contraband, in production—plus there are those infinite sequels to consider), it’s pretty easy to imagine him delivering Billy Jack‘s most classic line in full: “I’m gonna take this right foot, and I’m gonna whop you on that side of your face…and you wanna know something? There’s not a damn thing you’re gonna be able to do about it.” See the original scene after the jump.

Yeah, we’d definitely take this over Shooter II.
