Finally! We feel like we’ve been waiting forever to hear about the decadence that is Mariah Carey’s baby nurseries. Luckily Mimi and husband Nick Cannon didn’t dissapoint, dropping $100,000 on their kids’ rooms, including a $30,000 crib. “Everything matches, but pieces are individualized to celebrate the twins as separate entities,” the mom-to-be explained, opting to go with gender-neutral green for her son and daughter. “I feel like I’m bringing two individuals into the world, so I wanted to do more than cookie-cutter styles in blue and pink.” Besides, green will complement Mariah’s twins’ diamond iPods really nicely.
Carey designed their New York nursery with decorator Mario Buatta, but tapped designer Gail Sedigh for their L.A. baby digs. “The ceiling has orangey-pink clouds in a blue sky with golden stars twinkling. It’s based on two songs I wrote that are fan favorites: ‘Underneath the Stars’ and ”Close My Eyes,’” Carey explains. Imagine something similar to Mariah’s painted baby bump, but with higher ceilings and more natural light. Sadly, Mariah’s signature insect, the butterfly, is nowhere to be seen. Just kidding; there are butterflies everywhere. “Sometimes I just sit in the nursery and stare at the ceiling because I love it so much. To me, it symbolizes wanting my children to dream as big as possible and to let their imaginations be unbridled.” With a mom like Mariah, we can only imagine what bigger, even more pastel dreams her children will have.
