Alex Pettyfer To Play Male Stripper In Channing Tatum/Steven Soderbergh Film

by Anthony Miccio

Despite the failure of his heavily hyped I Am Number Four and Beastly films earlier this year, Alex Pettyfer‘s fifteen minutes of fame aren’t over quite yet. Though he didn’t score a role in The Hunger Games, Alex did just grab a role in the new Steven Soderbergh film, Magic Mike, based on Channing Tatum‘s male stripper days. Tatum will play the wizened Magic Mike, with Pettyfer his young apprentice. Finally, a Burlesque for men!

With Soderbergh notorious from hopping between esoteric art projects and Ocean’s Eleven movies, it’s unsurprising he wouldn’t be put off by Pettyfer’s “LA is a s—hole” talk, and it will be interesting to learn if Alex really has a “thank you” tattooed over his crotch. Still, unless Magic Mike gets amazing reviews, it’s hard to imagine this movie pulling even one straight man into the theater. Will this movie be Alex’s comeback or a bizarre footnote?
