See, we actually really like the idea of a Tim Burton version of Sleeping Beauty. It seems like a better story for his dark, cartoon-y style than, say, Charlie And The Chocolate Factory, which may or may not have caused us to have a hallucinatory panic attack in the candy aisle at Rite Aid. Sadly, Tim Burton’s Maleficient is a no go, despite the inclusion of Angelina Jolie as the titular evil queen and the fact that it’s the creepiest of the Disney princess story in need of a live-action remake (blood on a spinning wheel? enchanted comas? It’s like the Brothers Grimm wrote it for him). Seeing as how Hailee Steinfeld’s Sleeping Beauty is also on the way, Disney will hopefully find another director soon. You know, even those animals dancing around in the prince’s clothes in the animated Sleeping Beauty was Burton-esque. Birds getting together to wear a coat: there’s just something just not quite right about that.
