Tracy Morgan Apologizes For Homophobic Rant

by Kate Spencer (@katespencer)

Ugh. Really Tracy Morgan? The comedian apparently went on a homophobic tirade at a stand up show on June 3rd in Nashville. According to Kevin Rogers, a fan in attendance at the 30 Rock star’s show whose Facebook on the show went viral, Tracy said things like, “there is no way a woman could love and have sexual desire for another woman, that’s just a woman pretending because she hates a f**king man.  He took time to visit the bullsh*t of this bullying stuff and informed us that the gays needed to quit being p*ssies and not be whining about something as insignificant as bullying.”

Other comments included threatening to stab his son with a knife if he came out as gay and told him in a high-pitched voice, and insisted he “didn’t f**king care if he pissed off some gays, because if they can take a f**king dick up their ass.. they can take a f**king joke.”

GLAAD has condemned his comments, and Tracy just issued a statement apologizing. “I want to apologize to my fans and the gay & lesbian community for my choice of words at my recent stand-up act in Nashville. I’m not a hateful person and don’t condone any kind of violence against others. While I am an equal opportunity jokester, and my friends know what is in my heart, even in a comedy club this clearly went too far and was not funny in any context.”

While we’re glad he’s responded and addressed his hateful remarks, we’re not quite sure it’s enough. Do you think Tracy truly regrets his rant, or is he just offering up lip service?
