Jake Gyllenhaal Heads Off To Iceland For Man Vs. Wild

|

If this isn’t enough to make you swoon, we don’t know what will. It’s not like he doesn’t kick some serious butt in his movies, but now Mr. Rugged himself, Jake Gyllenhaal, has taken on Man Vs. Wild. As in the ultimate survival show with Bear Grylls on the Discovery Channel. As if that wasn’t a challenge in itself, they’re going to be shooting episodes in Iceland, which will be a part of the season premiere on July 11. Iceland, guys. Also known as the home of the volcano-we-can’t-pronounce that messes up all those flight schedules!

If you think they’re going soft on him because he’s an actor, think again. Their two-day expedition will involve battling the grim landscape which translates directly into mega glaciers and mountains. Pretty hardcore. As for his reasons for participating, Gyllenhaal has said, “For me, it’s all about discovery.” Grylls’ also giving him props revealing, “The wild is always very revealing — not only physically but mentally. You’ve got to smile when it’s driving horizontal hail and be able to face your fears and just get on and do it — and on both of those accounts, Jake came up strong.” Was there ever a doubt.
