Okay, Kat Von D isn’t going to just blink out of existence; that’s not how stars work. However, today’s LA Ink cancellation does suggest that the tattooed lady might fade gently back into the general population. Metaphorically, of course; people are still going to stare at her on the bus. “TLC has decided that the current season of LA Ink will be its last,” the channel announced in a statement. “The network is proud of what the series has accomplished in its four seasons, following Kat Von D’s journey as an artist from Miami to Los Angeles. The series finale will air September 15th at 10 p.m.” The channel is expected to follow up their statement with a detailed explanation of what exactly it thinks the series has “accomplished.”
This has really not been Kat’s summer. The end of her show was announced less than a month after Kat Von D’s break-up with Jesse James, and apparently TLC’s treatment of their split that has Von D up in arms. “In an effort to capitalize on my recent breakup, the network has decided to focus their energy on re-editing events that didn’t happen while filming,” Kat told People. “I have no regrets and am very proud of the original footage. In my opinion, any attempt to compromise the honesty of that would be an insult to my fans and viewers. As grateful as I am to have been a part of a show like LA Ink,  I’m ready to end this chapter and want to focus on other projects now.” On the plus side, now girl can go ahead and get that full-face tattoo she’s been pining for. That’s something that can be considered a plus side, right?
