Once upon a time, Amy Poehler was one fourth of a comedy quartet called The Upright Citizens Brigade, which birthed a theater, school, and television show.
The Comedy Central cult hit from the late nineties laid the groundwork for the type of absurdist sketch comedy in the tradition of predecessor The State and Mr. Show, and shows that followed, like Stella and Wonder Showzen.
Being that Amy is a lady, it was fun (for her and now for us) to get all dressed up in different costumes, which explains why she posed for awesome candid Polaroids every time she sported a different look for the show. New York Magazine has collected 30 of these candids in an oral history of the UCB, and they’re all worth looking at.
