Lindsay Lohan has a lucky star following her around. Yesterday, Lindsay was sentenced to 30 days of jail for violating her probation. The L.A. County Sheriff’s Office said she would end up serving only six days — or 20 percent — of that sentence and would have to adhere to a very strict probation schedule set down by Judge Stephanie Sautner.
Now, it seems that Lindsay will end up spending only a few minutes in the clink. TMZ reports that officials from the L.A. County Sheriff’s Department have stated that any individual who is charged with a misdemeanor sentence up to 90 days will be processed but then released almost immediately because of jail overcrowding. Technically, 90-day sentencees have to be incarcerated for 20 percent of their sentence, but the officials have clarified that a federal law dealing with the issue of overcrowding “trumps everything.” Therefore, as the official explained, “She’ll be out without even having to change her clothes.”
The only reason Lindz will spend any extra time in jail — possibly overnight — is because of a vast number of people being processed at the same time, which will slow the system down. This begs a question though. Why would the judge sentence Lindsay to 30 days if she knew that she would get out immediately? Well, she didn’t know. L.A. County Sheriff Lee Baca stated on Good Day L.A yesterday that there was space in his jail, making our head spin. Either way, it’s a win for Lindsay.
