Breaking Dawn Superfan Week: Is She Twilightish Or Twilight-est?

It’s Day 2 of our Breaking Dawn Superfan Week, and we’re imagining many of those we’re saluting are still sleeping off the excitement of last night’s big premiere, whether they were on the black carpet themselves, or at home diligently posting and tweeting about every minute of the event. But we’ll soldier on. This morning, we give a tip of the hat to Elena, whose team brings professional level of dedication to their fandom. While we don’t know how she manages to do this while raising FIVE children, she did tell us why here.

TheFABlife: When did you first fall in love with Twilight?
Elena: It was impossible not to notice the billboards and bus-stop ads with the hot vampire on them. So when I saw the book at Costco for $8, I decided I needed to see what all the hype was about. I finished Twilight in less than 24 hours and went out the next day to grab the rest of the series.

TFL: What’s the moment you can’t wait to see in Breaking Dawn (1 or 2)?
Elena: What kind of fan would I be if I didn’t say the honeymoon?!?! Who doesn’t want to see some headboard smashing and pillow biting? I’m also looking forward to seeing the song placement for the music. I’ve been a HUGE fan of all the soundtracks and so far, Breaking Dawn Part 1‘s soundtrack is my favorite. I can’t wait to see which song will be in what scene.

TFL: How many times have you read the books? How many times have you seen the previous movie?
Elena: I’ve read the series at least five times, and I’ve seen the movies even more. Especially now that the films are on cable all the time, I find myself getting unintentionally sucked in whenever I see them playing. I’ve probably watched Eclipse the most.

TFL: How many times do you plan on seeing Breaking Dawn Part 1?

Elena: As many times as I possibly can. I’ve been waiting nearly 18 months for this film to come out and will have to wait another 12 for the next one, so I want to see it as many times as I can pull off. Breaking Dawn was one of my fave books in the series. I’m a sucker for a happy ending.

TFL: What will you do after you’ve seen it that many times?
Elena: I’ll probably reread the book. It’s been awhile since I’ve read Breaking Dawn, and I’ll be curious to see what scenes in the book didn’t make it on screen. I have faith in Bill Condon though. I’m confident he did the books justice with his films.

TFL: What will you do after the final movie is out?
Elena: Cry. A lot. You know, as a blogger/fan, I feel like I’ve watched these characters go from paper to the big screen and when the last movie comes out and the story is essentially over, it will be hard to let go of those characters I’ve been living with for so long.

TFL: Have you ever felt this way about any other book/movie/person/thing?
Elena: No. Not even close. In fact, I hadn’t read anything in quite awhile when I picked up Twilight. Now I read two to three books a week, usually of the YA persuasion. But nothing before or since has had the same effect on me as Twilight.

TFL: Do you think anything will ever take Twilight‘s place for you?
Elena: I’ve read a lot of amazing books since picking up Twilight for the first time. And while there have been a lot of them that I’ve fallen in love with, I don’t think that anything will ever take Twilight‘s place for me. The Twilight Saga just holds a special place in my heart.

TFL: Will anything ever become the phenomenon that Twilight has?
Elena: My initial reaction to this question is “hell, no.” But it’s really hard to predict the future. There will probably always be “the next big thing,” but I can’t say that I think anything will rival the phenomenon that is the Twilight Saga.

TFL: Do you think Stephenie Meyer should do a spin-off series?
Elena: Everyone is probably going to hate me for this, but I have to say no. As much as I would love to stay with Edward, Bella and the rest of the Cullens, I think if Stephenie is going to maintain the integrity of the series, she should leave it where it is. Although I’d really love to read the rest of Midnight Sun (hint, hint).

TFL: Twilight tattoos: yea or nay?
Elena: NNNNAAAAAYYYY. But to each their own. You have to do what works for you. That just doesn’t work for me.

TFL: How has Twilight changed your life?
Elena: Twilight has introduced me to this crazy, AMAZING fandom. This is a pretty intense fanbase I’m a part of. And it goes so far beyond just the love of the books, films and characters. This fandom is fierce. Twilight fans can have a bad reputation, but we also contribute thousands to charity and hold fundraisers for other fans during times of crises. I think that speaks volumes about us as a collective whole. I’ve made friendships because of this series that I know will be with me the rest of my life, and I am so thankful for that.

TFL: Favorite line from the book/movie?
Elena: “Don’t be self-conscious, if I could dream at all, it would be about you. And I’m not ashamed of it.” — Edward Cullen, Twilight
