We know a lot of people are going to scoff at this news, but let them. We actually think it’s quite admirable that David Archuleta is temporarily putting his music career on hold to become a Mormon missionary. You read correctly. The singer revealed the news while performing in Salt Lake City, Utah this week. He said he was going to put a hold on his career for two years, explaining, “It’s not because someone told me that I was supposed to do it, not because I no longer want to do music anymore, but it’s because it’s the feeling that I felt that I need to do next in my life.”

Archuleta added, “It’s the same feeling that I’ve always tried to follow in my life. It’s the feeling that’s allowed me to have the opportunities I’ve had, the challenges I’ve had to overcome, and the blessings, too. I’ve learned that to trust that feeling. I’m aware that I need to answer when He calls, and that’s the reason that I know I need to do this in my life.” The crowds response was huge as they all burst into applause which moved the young singer so much that he started to cry. We don’t blame him, because decisions like this can be overwhelming and it’s great to see support, instead of snideness, coming in. It’s not like his talent is going anywhere!
