First, the slightly scary news: Nick Cannon is in an Aspen, Colorado, hospital recovering from “mild kidney failure,” according to a tweet from Mariah Carey. Even though she called it mild, and he seems alert enough in the photo above, Mariah also said that “this is very painful” in a blog post she wrote later. Also, we looked this up on WebMD, and found only entries for “acute kidney failure” and “chronic kidney failure,” neither of which sounded like much fun. Acute failure is caused by a drop in flow to blood from the kidneys; damage from medicines, poisons or infections; or something like kidney stones, a tumor or enlarged prostate blocking urine from flowing out of the kidneys. Ow.
But we’re going to follow MC’s example and focus on the positive, like how sweet they look together, even in the hospital. As she said in her blog, “We’re doing OK but we’re ‘straaaaaanded in Aspen.’ #DramaticDivaPlace (I know, we could be in a lot worse places) but the truth is as long as we’re together, we’re OK.”
