Here’s how The Hunger Games’ Katniss Everdeen describes the most famous piece of clothing since Bella’s wedding gown: “A few hours later, I am dressed in what will either be the most sensational or the deadliest costume in the opening ceremonies. I’m in a simple black unitard that covers me from ankle to neck. Shiny leather boots lace up to my knees.”
Now, over at EW.com, you can see how Gary Ross and company have turned Suzanne Collins’ words into reality in an exclusive pic of Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Lenny Kravitz. So far, so good, right? But there are a few things missing from the rest of her description:
But it’s the fluttering cape made of streams of orange, yellow and red and the matching headpiece that define this costume. Cinna plans to light them on fire just before our chariot rolls onto the streets. … My face is relatively clear of makeup, just a bit of highlighting here and there. My hair has been brushed out and then braided down my back in my usual style.”
OK, we don’t really care whether her hair is up or down (keeping it away from open flame seems wisest anyway), but we can’t see the capes and headpieces! Cinna’s holding a torch, about to light them up, but maybe another member of the team is about to place those on them at the last minute. Anyway, we’re glad the look isn’t complete. We know how the story ends, but come March 23rd, we need some things to surprise us too! How about the rest of you: Do you wish you could see the Girl Who Was on Fire now, or do you want to save it for the actual movie?
