Hawaii Five-O star Alex O’Loughlin will miss at least one episode of the show as he takes a “short break” undergo treatment for a prescription painkiller addiction, his spokesperson says.
The 35-year-old Australian was prescribed the meds for a shoulder injury — which should surprise no one who’s witnessed him perform his own stunts for the action-packed series.
“Everyone at CBS TV Studios and Hawaii 5-0 wishes him well and we look forward to his return,” a CBS spokesperson said. And reportedly the show already has 19 of the season’s 22 episodes in the can, so he can take his time in an undisclosed Hawaii facility.
Meanwhile, we assume fans will eagerly await his return. This is the guys whose role as vampire Mick St. John in Moonlight inspired people to donate 3,695 pints of blood (to the Red Cross, not thirsty vamps) in a campaign to save the show. The show was still canceled, of course, but still, that’s loyalty. It should also be noted that our boss just pitched this story to us as “former vampire Alex O’Loughlin is in rehab.” He knows how to get our attention.
Get well soon, Alex. And maybe consider letting some stunt guys help you out once in a while!
