We’ll admit it: we didn’t want to trust the rumors swirling this past summer that Peter Facinelli and Jennie Garth were on the rocks. So we, um, sort of mentally blocked out any possibility that could be true. Can you blame us? The Twilight actor and What I Like About You star always seemed so normal and likable! Unfortunately, putting our fingers in our ears and screaming “I’m not listening” at the top of our lungs not only annoys our office mates, it’s also a pretty crappy safe guard against divorce: Jennie Garth and Peter Facinelli just announced today that they are ending their marriage of 11 years. “While we have decided to end our marriage, we both share the same deep love and devotion to our children,” the couple told Us Weekly. “We remain dedicated to raising our beautiful daughters together. We ask for privacy and respect during this time.” Ugh, why isn’t there any way to unread this horrible news? Science, we blame you for this!
In addition to being parents to Luca, Lola and Fiona, Jennie and Peter had, as far as we can tell, an extremely good run. “Sometimes we’re in a store and I’ll lose Jennie for a second,” Facinelli told ShowbizSpy back in 2010. “Then I’ll see her out of the corner of my eye, and she’s just the most beautiful woman. And I say to myself: ‘Oh, that’s my wife, I’m so lucky.’ Those moments just hit me — and they hit me often.” Someone needs to invent that Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind drug already, so we can pretend these two are still curled up on the couch in matching Snuggies.
