We’re rather disappointed with this cover photo of Scarlett Johansson for the May issue of Canadian mag Flare. Don’t get us wrong; you can’t make ScarJo look bad. But you can make her look just “pretty,” and that’s a crime. This photograph for us is just beige. Nothing pops and everything blends into the background. We like our Scarlett with a bit of va-va-voom. A brighter lip or nails, perhaps? Because sadly, previews of her interview with the magazine sound just as bland. For instance, she talks about red carpet dressing, stating, “I think it’s nice on the red carpet to wear things that are colourful just because I think there are more options. You can take more of a risk I suppose with colour on the red carpet.” Nothing particularly groundbreaking right?
She also discussed what she plans to wear while promoting her upcoming film The Avengers, revealing, “I’m the only girl in the film, so I’m obviously going to be more aware that I’m surrounded by a bunch of suits. Everybody is going to be wearing black and grey and it will be nice to add femininity and some female sex appeal to the lineup. I think I’ll steer clear of the tuxedo.” Oh, good. She’s going to bust out the big guns! That’s more like it. But seriously, fashion editors. Do justice to women like this in the future. It’s not that hard! With different makeup and styling — and less Photoshop! — that dress would have been ace.
