A Labrador named Fred has ‘adopted’ a baby duckling after the duckling’s mother was eaten by a fox. I was juuuust about to make a joke about yet another animal partnership begging for online attention, but as is always the case, I then saw the photos and OHHHHH MYYYYY GOODDDDDD THEY ARE THE BEST:
The story behind this Pulitzer-winning-just-now-by-me photo:
The bird, which was less than a week old, would have died in the wild had it not been taken in by four-year-old Fred and his owner Jeremy Goldsmith, 44 [But mostly the dog - Ed]. Amazingly the Labrador took an immediate shine to the duckling and began to clean the muddy duck with its tongue.
In the immortal words of GOB, “COME on!”
