Fashion At The Tribeca Ball: Who Was Fab, Who Was Meh And Who Was Awful?

|

We’d like to save the best for last, so we’re going to start with who didn’t hit the mark at last night’s Tribeca Ball in New York. The event was honoring Robert de Niro, FYI, and was held at the New York Academy of Art. We’ll start with Solange Knowles on the left. Love the coral lips and print blouse, but not exactly loving those high-waisted, shiny trousers. Taking “shiny” to a whole new level is Carla Gugino, in the middle. She’s such a beautiful woman, but that bouffant hair is all wrong, especially when paired with that red, satin dress. We get she was trying to go retro, but couldn’t get it right. Then there’s Paz de la Huerta on the right. We don’t even know what to say, or where to begin. Just … NO.

We’re moving on to the meh pile next, which comprises Padma Lakshmi and Helena Christensen. To see what they wore, and what we have to say, click after the jump. The best dressed lot also awaits you!

There’s nothing wrong with these two ladies, per se. But Padma Lakshmi looks washed out and her bag is all wrong. That dress would have looked pretty great with some better styling. Helena’s dreamy, floaty maxi floral dress is pretty too. Only, for a walk in a meadow and not a black-tie event.

We finally made it to the best-dressed list! We’ll start with a bronzed Naomi Watts on the left. We’re normally not fans of peplum dresses but Ms. Watts works it with a great touch of cleavage, a gold necklace and those strappy heels. The oversized snakeskin clutch is a great touch too. Jessica White nails it in a way only a supermodel can. How stunning does she look in that gold column? Also wearing black, like Naomi, was Julianna Marguiles who kept it classic and simple in a Grecian silhouette, belted at the waist. Just how we like it. As always, let us know what you’re thinking in the comments section!
