The speculations about Lana Del Rey and her bouffant being the new face of H&M have been rife for the last couple of months. Well, now the news is well and truly confirmed since the first few shots of Lana as the brand’s new face have surfaced. Voila! The photograph you see above is the singer’s mug for the new H&M autumn campaign and it’s super retro. “The mood is very L.A. noir. It’s inspired by our fall collection, ” says Donald Schneider, H&M’s creative director. The late 1950s/early ’60s totally spring to mind thanks to that fuzzy pink angora sweater, tight micro-shorts in the same shade and winged-eyeliner with the hair, of course. No frills, no fuss, very simple but sexy, the images have been shot by veteran snappers, Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. Apparently, a campaign video featuring Lana singing a cover of “Blue Velvet” is also due to release on September 19 as part of the advertisement master plan.
