As Courtney Stodden informed her Twitter followers on Monday, and her mom confirmed to Celebuzz today, everyone’s favorite teen bride is off shooting some kind of reality show at this very moment. “FYI Stoddenista’s: Will be m.i.a for about 3 weeks – packing up & heading out to shoot a reality show!” Courtney wrote.
Our first response to this news? We did a little Cat Daddy of our own in the office. (Sorry, no cameras were present.) Our second: that nauseating feeling you get when you fear that some TV exec will destroy the artistry of a natural-born talent. There are so many ways you could go with this, and all we know so far is that it’s not taking place in the Marina Del Ray home she shares with actor hubby Doug Hutchison. In the past, we’ve seen a lot of Courtney on camera, mostly via her YouTube channel, so let’s examine her past work and speculate about this magical show.
1. Newlyweds/T.I. and Tiny/Khloe and Lamar
Judging by our own interview with Courtney (above), her life with 51-year-old Doug is filled with cute moments in which they find out about their similarities and differences. Reality-TV is filled with hits and misses of this “Odd Couple” vein. Sometimes it’s more compelling than a sitcom. Sometimes it’s reaaally boring if not carefully scripted. Maybe that’s why it’s not in their home?
2. Courtney’s Surreal Life
Remember this “Hello, Kitty” video from a few months ago? We surmised that it was proof of Courtney’s performance art ambitions. She could go all out with this — entire episodes could be wordless montages, inspired dreamscapes that would put Terrence Malick to shame.
3. A Travel Channel-Style Docu-series
We know from her PETA video that Courtney takes animal rights and her new cruelty-free lifestyle very seriously. She would make an excellent host, traveling the world as she convinces people everywhere to “switch to a vegetarian.”
4. A Kardashian-style Show (Uh-Oh)
This is our least-favorite option: just simply following her around as she launches her singing and acting and general-famous-person career. As you can see from above, Court sometimes indulges in whininess that turns her from an object of fascination into one of revulsion. But, hey, millions of people watch Kimmy K do it, so it could work for Courtney too.
