Patrick St. Esprit To Bring Down the Hammer As Catching Fire‘s Romulus Thread

Patrick St. Clair Cast In Catching Fire

According to Variety, Sons Of Anarchy actor Patrick St. Esprit has been cast as Romulus Thread in Catching Fire. So feel free to start loathing him now! St. Esprit is allegedly signed on as the hard-nosed Head Peacekeeper of District 12, a man so determined to repress rebellion he *spoiler alert* flogs Gale for poaching, injures Katniss and has poor Darius turned into an avox. Don’t know what “avox” means. It’s okay; you know what “flog” means, right? Yeah, the guy is…not good.

Much like his cast members Amanda Plummer and Lynn Cohen, St. Esprit has been preparing for his Hunger Games character his entire career; the actor has played military and police types in everything from Super 8 to Rizzoli & Isles to, yes, Walker, Texas Ranger. Unlike his role in this year’s Blue Lagoon: The Awakening, however, St. Esprit’s new role will allow him to work with cast mates who are actually talented performers. “It’s a great group of actors. It’s a great environment. And the character was something I was attracted to. It was just an interesting role,” Philip Seymour Hoffman told EW about his turn as Plutarch Heavensbee in a particularly spoiler-y interview. Oh, also? Spoiler alert! “He’s somebody who’s part of the revolution, but you don’t know it,” Hoffman muses. “The idea that somebody would be risking themselves in such an extreme way to join something that’s that dangerous because he thinks it’s the future…that’s interesting stuff, you know?” Oh, we know. That’s why we bought this tent to sleep in while in line for the Catching Fire midnight show! Of course it would be coming out in November. Horrible, cold November…
