Like sweet, sustaining water flowing from a pure mountain stream (that happens to run through an arena filled with teenagers battling to the death on a reality TV show), the Catching Fire casting decisions keep on trickling in. Lionsgate announced today that singer and actress Maria Howell snagged the role of District 11 tribute Seeder, a former Hunger Games victor partnered with E. Roger Mitchell‘s Chaff, befriended by Katniss and not particularly lucky when it comes to snagging supplies from the Cornucopia. Don’t worry if you haven’t read the book yet. You’ll see what we mean soon enough.
Like many of the new Hunger Games tributes, Howell might not be as well-known as cast members Jennifer Lawrence or Liam Hemsworth, but chances are if you’ve watched 1) movies or 2) television, you’ve seen her in action. Howell has been on shows such as Vampire Diaries, Army Wives, Drop Dead Diva, Meet the Browns and House of Payne, as well as alongside Sandra Bullock in The Blind Side. We’re also happy to hear Howell is set to star in NBC’s upcoming show Revolution. It’s always good to have a back-up plan, given what happens to Seeder at the Cornucopia. It’s not good! We’ll say that much!
