The 5 Very Unexpected Best-Dressed Picks At The ALMA Awards, Plus Two Maybe Additions

Best-Dressed At The ALMA Awards

We know, we know. Zoe Saldana is almost always on every best-dressed list so her inclusion in our top five at the ALMA Awards, held in Pasadena, California yesterday, is no surprise. This dusty rose Gucci Resort 2013 gown is ace on her, even though we can see most of her sternum. The color, the silhouette and the Grecian drapes are perfect on her. Brian Atwood shoes and Irene Neuwirth jewelery complete the story. And here’s where it gets unexpected. Also going the Grecian route, was Dania Ramirez who wore an emerald strappier version that was flattering, romantic and sexy at the same time. And completing the Grecian triad, was Bella Thorne who wore a scarlet, strapless Bibhu Mohapatra dress with Swarovski jewelry. Absolutely lovely, and we love the slightly ruffled, asymmetrical hem.

Then there was Madeleine Stowe who knocked it clean out of the ballpark in a striking black sequined column with a beautiful cuff and a slicked-back ponytail. How is this woman 54-years old? Rounding up the list was a very quirky but retro-gorgeous Christian Serratos whose optical illusion monochromatic dress nailed it. We were very clear that these five ladies needed to be on the best-dressed list. But there were two more celebrities who we just couldn’t make our minds up about.

Ana Ortiz, America Ferrera

On the left, Ana Ortiz wore this zany dress. What we love is the confidence and the styling. The dress fits perfectly and she didn’t drown it in too much jewelry, the wrong makeup or big hair. Having said that, is the print too distracting? Then, there’s America Ferrera on the right. Great color, and she looks lovely. But what up with those chiffon drapes going down from her shoulders and tucking themselves into her belt? Pointless detail? Or interesting detail? We’ll leave the decision to include Ana, America or both to you.
