Taylor Swift and Emma Watson aren’t the only celebrities getting double covers in the same month around these parts. Now that the twenty third installment of the James Bond series, Skyfall, is due to release later this month, the martini-swillin’, lady-lovin’ spy is everywhere. And by that we mean, the actor who plays “Bond, James Bond,” Daniel Craig, is everywhere. Hallelujah, right? This month, he covers both British GQ and Vanity Fair‘s November issues, who both have special Bond covers adorning their faces. The magazines have come a little late to the party — Esquire released their Bond October cover with Craig on it back in August! Still, we’re not complaining. The more the merrier! And with Craig hosting Saturday Night Live this week, we’re basically in heaven.
GQ’s really done it in style, though. To mark the 50th anniversary of Bond and the movie’s release, they’ve got special covers for previous James Bonds, before Craig took on the role. Sir Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Sir Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton and Pierce Brosnan all have their own — see the slideshow here. Craig brings up the other Bonds in the amazing Vanity Fair interview saying, “What I’m doing is not what Pierce was doing, and Pierce wasn’t doing what Roger Moore was doing, or what Sean was doing, or what Timothy [Dalton] was doing. Things have changed. It’s just kind of the ride of it. Pierce used to say that it’s like being responsible for a small country. It’s kind of like you have to look after it diplomatically. I kind of get that, but I can’t really say that’s my deal. I’m not going to be the poster boy for this. Although I am the poster boy.” Our favorite bit is when he also reveals, “It’s amazing how many times I’ve sat in interviews like this in a bar or a hotel, and it’s 11 o’clock in the morning and someone sends a martini over. And it’s like, Really? It’s 11 o’clock! Cheers! I’m not going to drink it.” Not going to lie. We’d drink it if Craig was sitting across the booth.
