6 NY (And NJ) Images From Movies And TV That Sandy Hasn’t Erased From Our Minds

Images from Woody Allen's Manhattan and Jersey Shore, and how similar locales look this week.

Superstorm Sandy has got to be one of the most documented events in the history of mankind — which isn’t surprising, because people have always loved to photograph, film, paint and otherwise record New York City. (And we admit, we also happen to be a kind of narcissistic bunch.) Oh yeah, and all of the media is here. But for all of the images we see of flooded streets, fallen trees and powerless lower Manhattan, we’re pretty sure that those pictures won’t replace the iconic ones we hold in our mind’s eye when we think of New York. Or, sorry, not to leave you out, neighbors, the Jersey Shore. In case you’ve got some temporary memory loss, we’ve got a handful of such images, from Woody Allen’s Manhattan, The Warriors, Sex and the City, Jersey Shore, The Sitter and Cloverfield, alongside photos of the same places from this week. If we know New York, there’s no doubt these locales will be back to their photogenic selves in no time.
