Deadline published a report just a week ago — as did we — about the fact that Kristen Stewart had started talks with Warner Bros. to join Ben Affleck as the lead in Focus, a romantic comedy about two con artists. Her character is supposed to be “disarming and sexy without trying,” and shares a lot of steamy scenes with Affleck, who by the way, think Kristen would be perfect for the role as, “ she’s terrific and hopefully it will work out.” Kristen’s now confirmed the fact that this is actually happening to HuffPo, ”I can confirm that rumor,” she’s said. “It’s a comedy. I’m really excited about it. We start shooting in April.” We know we weren’t sold at all with the idea when we first heard about it, but it’s kind of growing on us now. It’ll be fun to see her in a role that’s not super intense or supernaturally inclined. This sounds like a sexy, fun, light caper of a film and it’ll be interesting to see her navigate that sort of role. Although those love scenes — Kristen’s 22 and Ben’s 40, so awkward much on set? Nah … they’re both professionals. And hot. Shouldn’t be a problem. They’ve also got a great team helming the whole project. It’s being written and directed by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa, who were responsible for Crazy, Stupid, Love which we really dug, so this gives us a lot of hope. What do you think of the pairing between Ben and Kristen? Do you see it as something that could really work?
