Sometime last month, Shannen Doherty made a call to 911 because a fan from New Jersey on Twitter had threatened to kill herself. Apparently, the threat was made because the fan wanted Shannen to call her, and it sounds completely crazed, as the fan seemed suicidal, for real, to the actress. Somehow, that call was leaked and reached the cyber-hands of TMZ, who posted the clip. In it, Shannen explains the surreal circumstances the best that she can, saying, “This is going to sound incredibly strange because it does to me as well … my name is Shannen Doherty and I’m an actress. I’m on Twitter, sadly, and there is a girl that is threatening to shoot herself and she lives somewhere over there … I’m completely untrained to deal with somebody threatening suicide, especially via Twitter. I know that she has stated that she a gun and is going to shoot herself …” It all turned out okay and teh police went and checked on the fan, who wasn’t going to hurt herself. The phone-call even ended on a kinda cute note, with the dispatcher admitting, “All my co-workers can’t believe who I’m on the phone with” with Shannen responding with laughter and a thank you. But now this call has been made public and she’s not so happy, as her tweet, sent out earlier today, indicates. We’re happy she made the call — we’re not sure about how the hell it leaked, but her response is quite justified, in our opinion. Although, what’s also totally exploitative, is the fan who used suicide to emotionall blackmail someone into calling her. She clearly was bluffing as the cops ascertained when they got to her. That’s not just idiotic behaviour, but it’s a waste of our resources.
