Drew Barrymore in Allure shortly after giving birth to baby Olive

We know, we know, it’s like every other headline on this site lately is about new moms — not our fault! It’s the news cycle! But we just wanted to take a moment to thank Drew Barrymore. After all the talk about how stars like Jessica Simpson and Beyonce shed the pounds after giving birth, we’re so relieved to see that Drew’s first magazine appearances are about things other than her diet. Last week she gave the requisite “miracle” quotes to People, and this week, she’s glowing from the cover of Allure, where the camera focuses on her flawless face and her quotes are all about how she’s grown up and settled down.

She talks about how “incestuous” it is that her friend Kristen Wiig is dating her ex, Fabrizio Moretti, and how Steven Spielberg scolded her when she posed for Playboy in 1995. “It’s embarrassing to go through any rebellious stage in front of people that you love and respect, and yet I’m glad I did,” she said. “I’m glad I lived such a full life before I settled down into a family, because I got to enjoy it and get it out of my system.”

Oh, wait, here’s one quote about her weight, but we love it: “I cannot live a life where I’m deprived. I’d much rather be five, ten pounds heavier. With my luck, I’ll get myself to that perfect goal weight, and I’ll get hit by a bus. Then I’ll be like, Sh–. I’ll be looking at myself from some afterlife, going, ‘You idiot. You could have had the agnolotti, dummy.’ ”
