It’s a sad day for all Glee fans. 31-year-old Cory Monteith, known for playing Finn on the show, has been found dead in a Vancouver hotel room. CNN reports that we still don’t know what the exact cause of death was, but police have ruled out foul play.
Monteith was often called the “glue” that held the cast and crew of Glee together and in more recent years had started a public romance with co-star, Lea Michele. In a recent interview with Life & Style, Michele said of her romance with Monteith, “I’m dating my celebrity crush.”
Monteith was admitted into rehab earlier this year for substance abuse and checked out over a month ago. He seemed to be in healthy and fine spirits on June 12 when he attended the 12th Annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball with Michele. A medical autopsy is scheduled for tomorrow which should confirm whether or not his substance abuse issues were at play in his death.
In addition to his work on Glee, Monteith was also known for his philanthropic spirit. He won the 2012 Do Something TV Star Male Award.
Monteith will be missed by his family, friends and fans.
