Who Will Be Who? Former Doctor Who Star Arthur Darvill Weighs In On Casting Rumors

Ever since Matt Smith suddenly announced his departure from Doctor Who, fans have been chomping at the bit to find out who will be his replacement. We spoke to former Doctor Who star Arthur Darvill to find out whom he thinks could wield the Sonic Screwdriver next and also to address some of those pesky 50th Anniversary rumors about Amy and Rory…

When asked point blank about whether or not we’ll get any sort of cameo from the Ponds in the 50th Anniversary Special, Darvill laughed, “Well, I’m here!” So, there it is. Amy and Rory probably aren’t coming back and Darvill is happily (and ironically) settled for the time being in New York City, which renders him incapable of joining in the fun. He added, “I think it is going to be insane, but brilliant! I’m really looking forward to it to see what happens…I mean, I know what a lot of it is just through talking with them.”

Will the new Doctor be revealed at Comic-Con? Will we get teasers for the 50th Anniversary Special? Are Amy and Rory truly gone forever or are they just messing with us?!?!? Stay tuned with VH1.com for Comic-Con coverage and check in the next few weeks for more from our exclusive interview with Arthur Darvill including his experiences performing in Once, his work in the upcoming BBC America series Broadchurch, and what happened when the actor who played Rory Williams met the man who played the Tenth Doctor…
