Throw your YASSSS in the air, because Keke Palmer is our YAS GIRL of the week! The multi-talented star will be making her Broadway debut as the first EVER black Cinderella in Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella. Yas! Keke is known for her past roles in Akeelah and the Bee, Masters Of Sex, and her lead role as Chili in VH1’s own CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story! She also hosts Just Keke, her very own talk show on BET – which, at 20 years old, made her the youngest TV talk show host in history! This girl is on fire!
Keke told The Associated Press that singer Brandy, who played the role in a 1997 TV movie, definitely provided inspiration for her latest princess-y part. “In me doing this, it shows everybody that everything is possible.” Anything IS possible when you’re Keke Palmer! We are sure she will lend a whole new wave of inspiration to little girls everywhere who see the first African American Cinderella waltzing and singing on the Broadway stage!
Keke will be donning her glass slippers as Cinderella starting September 9th and is joined by Sherri Shepherd as the evil stepmother.
