You may think Mischa Barton exhausted every young female stereotype during her time as Marissa Cooper on The O.C. To be able to play a lovelorn, teenage, alcoholic sometimes-lesbian who dies in a fiery car wreck takes a special talent. We never did see her work the streets, though.
Luckily, Law & Order: SVU is going to allow Mischa to round out her fragile, female-in-trouble resumé when she plays Gladys The Pregnant Hooker on an episode set to air on March 3. No doubt Gladys will have a heart of gold and is just paying her way through law school. Mischa’s wardrobe for the role is pretty hilarious in that clichéd prostitute way – she actually looks more like a thrift store hipster to us, but you be the judge. [Photos: Getty Images]
There were a lot of hot looks at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards and it was no easy task narrowing down the best of the best. Still, we managed to wade through all of sartorial options that Hollywood presented us and we narrowed it down to our ten favorites.
Anna Kendrick‘s long black dress had a beautiful silhouette, but what really wowed us was the elegant back detail and frilly bottom. We love her polished ponytail too, which gave the look a fun, youthful touch.
We love the detailing along Mo’nique‘s neckline, but her other accessory (that would be a Best Supporting Actress statue for Precious) is pretty stunning too. Her look is polished and that dress fits her like a glove. This is one of the more understated outfits Mo’nique has worn on the red carpet, and we love it.
Top eight looks after the jump!
When Sarah Silverman and Adam Lambert were paired up to present the award for best comedy at the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards, we knew that anything could happen. After all, last time Glambert appeared on live television, people’s worlds were shattered and little children would never be the same.
The moment the pair took the stage, parents should have known to divert their childrens’ attention, but instead of Adam being the corrupting influence, it was all Sarah. We’ll break it down for you: Sarah Silverman really loves d*ck and doesn’t care who knows it. We mean she reaaaally loves it, and reaaaally doesn’t care who knows.
So despite Sandra Bullock‘s best efforts to “earmuff” the little kid sitting next her, he knows. And Bradley Cooper knows. And The entire cast of The Hurt Locker totally knows. And Adam? Well, he’s happy the heat’s off him for once, but he knows and totally agrees with her.
We’re all psyched to hear Nick Jonas and The Administration performing some of our favorite songs throughout tonight’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards (who knew we’d get to hear our favorite song from when we were a kid, “Abracadabra” playing us to commercial?).
Honestly though, we were more excited that we got to hear some of the band’s original music during the red carpet pre-show, and we have the footage of them playing their hit “Who I Am” right here so we can watch it over…and over…and over. We have a feeling some of you might want to do the same.
If there’s one thing that will set tonight’s Critics’ Choice Movie Awards apart from other award shows, it’s the fact that no one else has Nick Jonas and The Administration performing as a house band. Nick spoke to MTV about his latest gig, saying “There’s a lot of songs that I have to learn still, but I’m looking forward to it. It’s an honor to be a part of that show, and knowing that I’m going to be playing it with the band is comforting, considering they are very experienced and they’ve got a pretty good grip on what they’re doing.”
So what can we expect to hear on the show? Sounds like a little of everything! “[The producers of the show and I] work together on this one to come up with a list of songs that I feel comfortable with and that they were comfortable with as well,” Jonas said. “It’s a big list, but it should be good to see it all come together.” The show will also feature tons of hilarious actors and comedians, so hopefully someone in The Administration has perfected their rim-shot.

The Anti-GOOP crowd just had more fuel added to their fire today when Gwyneth Paltrow decided to open her mouth and discuss her path to enlightenment.
Following a minor car crash last week after bringing her kids to school, Paltrow seems to have been rattled to the point where a detoxifying cleanse or a night out with William Joel just won’t purify her soul anymore. Instead, she wants to meditate her way to superiority. The star explained to the Telegraph “My New Year’s resolution is to learn how to meditate. It’s always sounded like something I should do, but I don’t know how to. My friends who do it say it’s really freakin’ brilliant. They say you can’t know the peace, awareness and contentment until you do it. My brain drives me mental.”
We know people who meditate, so it’s not that we’re judging her, it’s just one more soundbite we can add to a long line of Gwyneth-isms adding to that “my sh*t don’t stink” vibe we get from her. It’s enough to drive anyone mental, really. [Photo: Getty Images]
Every time Simon Cowell‘s American Idol contract comes up, we still marvel at the figures. Today, we’re marveling at the amount of money he actually turned down in order to depart the famous show. Reports that surfaced today have hinted that Cowell was offered an additional $100 million to stay with the franchise, but he opted out in order to work on his X-Factor series instead.
In other X-Factor news, there’s been a lot of chatter about what other music powerhouses Cowell will convince to join him on the show. Rumor has it Cowell has been considering Cheryl Cole, his UK co-judge, to join him for the U.S. version of the show. He’s also been considering Tommy Mottola – the head of Sony music and former Mr. Mariah Carey – to be a judge as well. And then of course there’s the rumor that he plans to bring Paula Abdul on board ever since Cowell was recently quoted as saying “It was always my intention in one way or another to carry on working with her.” The more we hear about this series’ progress, the more excited we’re getting. We wonder if Idol and X-Factor can co-exist peacefully, or if this will be the beginning of the end of Ryan Seacrest and Co. [Photo: Getty Images]
This Is It was one of our favorite films of 2009, but it was missing something…and we think we just found it. Sure, the film was all about the music of Michael Jackson, but what about giving some respect to his famous glove??? It seems everyone except Kristin Chenoweth forgot about that notorious piece of handwear. As she gears up to host the Critics’ Choice Movie Awards on Friday night at 9PM EST on VH1, allow us to provide you with her latest video short, which has her looking like a cross between a flashy disco ball, a gummy bear and an oven mitt. It’s a real sight to behold, and you’re seeing it exclusively here before it airs on the show.
In addition to Chenoweth’s stellar hosting skills, the show will feature a whole boatload of A-list presenters – where else can you find Meryl Streep mixing with Amy Poehler, or Adam Lambert hobnobbing with Bradley Cooper? With this kind of talent on-hand, someone has to cover it, so check back with us while we live blog the whole thing. To participate on your mobile, text TALK to 22422 or search VH1 in the iTunes App Store to download the Watch and Discuss Live Chat mobile app. It’s free and works on BlackBerry, iPhone and other phones.
