When Miley Cyrus posted the photo of Harry Styles (the cardboard version) you see above on Twitter, we couldn’t help bursting into giggles. We also love the fact that she actually tweeted a disclaimer, writing, “In no way do I want Harry. No offense. I’m sure that’ll be a story now 2. I’m happily engaged. Just got saucy with a cardboard cut out.” Regardless, here is what we think Taylor Swift thought when she saw the picture.
1. Miley — you better RUN.
2. What will inflict more pain when it connects with someone’s head — a guitar or a ukulele?
3. My next album is going to go multi-platinum. Who’s laughing now, Styles.
Celebrities always scrub up and put their Sunday best on for this one, don’t they? The National Board Of Review Awards Gala is always the first big awards red carpet of the year and seems to be for the “serious” movies and actors. Therefore, the fashion follows suit. Nothing too frippery here. Emily Blunt got it perfectly right with her nude-blush Emilio Pucci dress with tiny little cut-outs, bronze Stuart Weitzman shoes and minimal and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Amanda Seyfried wore a panelled onion and metallic Bottega Veneta dress, nipped in at the waist, with lace-up Alexandre Birman heels and pretty Norman Silverman earrings. Anne Hathaway‘s black luxe, androgynous tapered Hedi Slimane tuxedo was also right on the money and amazingly chic paired with her cropped hair.
Thank you, Bradley Cooper for wearing such an elegant Gucci suit, but damn, you need a haircut. Jessica Chastain, who has been doing rather well sartorially lately, picked a black Alexander McQueen dress with a floral metallic collar, bronze Charlotte Olympia shoes and a matching Aurelie Bidermann cuff. And then there was Ben Affleck, who sorely needed a shave, but who worked it out in a black tailored suit. Read more…
Yesterday was a sartorial heavyweight day thanks to three different premieres in three different cities with three different stars, each hitting it out of the fashion ball-park, so to speak. We’ll start with Jessica Chastain on the left who arrived at the New York screening of Mama at the 2012 New York Film Critics Circle Awards looking dreamy and romantic in a full-skirted, black lace overlay, embroidered Oscar de la Renta frock. She accessorized very smartly with Christian Louboutin black pumps, and Harry Winston collar diamond necklace that looked like it was worth it’s weight in … diamonds. In the middle, is Emma Stone who looked adorable and ever-so-slightly kitschy at the premiere of Gangster Squad in Hollywood. She wore a red Pre-Fall 2013 silk and brocade Lanvin dress adding the same brands ‘Babylon’ crystal necklace and Volubilis’ crystal flower brooch at the waist, with a Lanvin (again) ‘Passion’ clutch, all in red. The only non Lanvin piece on her were the Christian Louboutin ‘Pigalle’ red pumps. Lastly, to the right, we have Kerry Washington at the Paris premiere of Django Unchained wearing a gorgeous flowing, printed Rochas Spring 2013 strapless gown. She simply added a pair of ivory-and-diamond Monique Pean earrings which were clearly visible as her hair was up in a top-knot. Don’t make use choose between these three looks because we love them all. Although, to be honest, Kerry may have inched ahead for us, but that may change in a half hour. Who are you feeling the most here?
What a nice little gesture from Holly Madison. The pregnant ex-Playmate, current reality star is expecting her first child with Pasquale Rotella sometime in March, so she’s already somewhere around seven months into baby-time. A tweet from her reading, “Took this baby bump update pic today for you guys!” linked to her Celebuzz page, revealing a very natural looking Holly, sans makeup, hiking up her shirt to reveal an adorable, big baby bump with a smile face on it, as you can see above. The message with it reads, “Hey guys! I took this pic of the baby bump this morning— smiling just for you! Hope you’re having a great weekend.” She looks so cute, and so very young without the big makeup and hair. And we like that she’s got sneakers on. This picture reminds us of Mariah Carey who was also into baby bump decoration while she was preggers. Remember her Easter egg decoration bump masterpiece? Or her glittery, girly, colorful butterfly bump art? While Holly’s may be a tad more DIY and less … swirly, we still love it. Except, on third and fourth look, the eyes weird us out a little, but still, baby bumps rule!
We hear that Taylor Swift has been working on album as of this weekend because she has a ton of brand new — how do we say this politely — material? Just kidding. Or not. And before you think we’re mean, this break-up between T. Swizzle and her man Harry Styles hasn’t been officially confirmed. But, when news spreads about a split like this one is, it’s always been most likely true. But still, we’d be terribly said to see no more Haylor, so until we hear an official statement from either, we’re putting this in the rumor category. Especially because that New Years kiss between the two happened just a week ago.
The story is that the two hotties have been in Virgin Gorda in the British Virgin since January 1. But last week, on January 4 to be precise, Taylor left solo, early in the morning, looking not particularly happy. Ever since then, Harry’s been seen living it up, hot-tubbing with girls and hanging at Richard Branson’s private Necker Island resort before jetting back to England. It is believed that the two combusted and had a massive fight, which was the alleged catalyst of the break-up. A tweet of Taylor’s the day after the apparent split read, “…’til you put me down.” And that right there, has got to the be title to a new song, right? Because she’s never, ever, ever getting back together with him, right?
This news is pretty scary. It takes a lot of guts to target one of the most photographed faces in the world and the fact that thieves are now taking those chances means our world has become that much more unsafe to live in. Naomi Campbell was attacked and mugged recently in Paris on the street while she was trying to get a taxi and ended up hurting herself badly while being robbed. Sources told Page Six, “Her leg was injured as she was violently pushed to the ground. She was understandably very upset and shaken up. It was terrifying. Naomi believes the assailant had been watching her, casing her out, and waited for a moment to strike when she was alone. She was attacked in the street as she hailed a cab, and robbed.” Naomi’s torn a ligament thanks to the ordeal but luckily, her billionaire boyfriend, Vladimir Doronin, acted as her knight in shining armour and flew her to Colorado via private jet to get treated by a top orthopedic surgeon. So we know she’s in good hands. It is believed the thieves were after her jewelry and the French police are in the midst of investaging the incident. We’re glad this didn’t get any worse!
This woman is so diva we can hardly handle it. But that’s Jennifer Lopez — impossibly gorgeous and larger than life — as is most evident from her February cover for Harper’s Bazaar, shot in Istanbul. Her interview cracked us up because we love how she thinks she sounds so everyday and normal but really isn’t. For instance, she brought up what happened to her infamous green Versace slashed dress, worn to the 2000 Grammys — you can get your memory check from the picture on the right. “I have that at home. The other day, my housekeeper put it on a mannequin in my spa, where I get my hair and makeup done. She sent me a picture. She was like, ‘You like this dress?’ Um, yeah, but I don’t know if I like it out in the house!” she says. Her boyfriend, Casper Smart, who’s also around, says, “But it’s famous! It’s the most famous dress you’ve ever worn.” Out of all of this, we basically got that J.Lo has a whole spa in her home just for hair and makeup. Of course she does. The other quote that made us giggle was, “I make it as simple and as beautiful as I can because my life is kind of big. So I pack my luggage, or dress myself, or comb my kids’ hair, pick up their clothes—that makes our life beautiful, you know? There’s something very elegant in that.” Oh, Jennifer. Never change!
Through some bored internet surfing, we were somehow led to Megan Fox‘s Facebook page, where the latest post revealed, “Against my better judgment, I have finally joined Twitter…” It went on to say that “every possible version of my name is already in use” so Megan had to make do with MeganFox516, the numerals being a nod to her birthday, FYI. But if you try looking for that handle, you’ll come up with nothing. Because in the few hours that Megan created her profile — it’s quite brand new — Twitter has gone out of its way to make the star feel welcome. Gone are the pesky numerals from her Twitter handle because it’s now quite simply “MeganFox” in case you want to send some neighborly tweets. Her biography proclaims her to be a, “Lover. Healer. Mother” and her first and only tweet says, “I’m incredibly late to the party but I’m here nonetheless, so what now?” Now all she has to do is sit back and chill because she’s already amassed over twenty seven thousand followers in no time at all. She hasn’t followed anyone yet but we’re sure that’s going to change in the next couple of days. Hashtag welcome to Twitter, Megan!
We know that Gwyneth Paltrow likes herself some gangster rap and hip-hop. You’ve seen her freestyle with Cameron Diaz and you’ve seen her bust out Gangsta Gangsta on The Graham Norton Show. You also know she’s BFF with Jay-Z. And her husband is Chris Martin who is pretty much all of Coldplay. So none of what is to follow should come as a surprise and yet it does. Perhaps it’s envy? Perhaps it’s actually seeing Gwyneth who is sp perfectly manicured all the time, dance? Coldplay and Jay co-headlined a massive New Years Eve show at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn and Martin joined Hov for Run This Town. It’s all in the video you see above, and you’ll even see Gwynny and Chris’ two kids, Apple and Moses, provide back-up support for their Uncle Jay. And if you look to the right, you’ll see Gwyneth bobbing up and down, shaking her (non-existent) booty, blond ponytail high in the air, swigging champagne and livin’ the life. And then you’ll see hubby Chris jumping around stage — loosely defined as “dancing” — and you’ll be thinking … when will Hov’s swagger rub off on them? Possibly never, but that’s okay. We like bad but enthusiastic dancers!
We could go into how pretty Julianne Hough looks on the February cover of Cosmopolitan magazine, but we’re not going in that direction. We were reading her interview and she drops quite a bombshell in there, which is what we’d like to talk about and give due importance. Julianne says she was abused when she was younger, when she lived in London, and it’s only something she’s just starting to talk about. She moved to London to study at the Italia Conti Academy of the Arts when she was ten, and brother, Derek Hough, was already there. “I was 10 years old looking like I was 28, being a very sensual dancer. I was a tormented little kid who had to put on this sexy facade because that was my job and my life. But my heart was the same, and I was this innocent little girl. I wanted so much love,” she starts. And then comes the drop. She continues with, “While I was in London, I was abused, mentally, physically, everything” adding that it got worse when she “started hitting puberty, when I started becoming a woman and stopped being a little girl.”
She’s not revealing any names because she doesn’t, “want to hurt anybody. What’s past is past … This is the farthest I’ve ever gotten into my London situation. I was told if I ever went back to the United States, three things were going to happen. One: I was going to amount to nothing. Two: I was going to work at Whataburger. And three: I was going to end up a slut. So, it was like, I can’t go back. I have to be this person.” Okay, that’s not only shocking, but we wish she would talk about who did this because those people deserve every piece of humiliation that comes their way. We can’t help but think that Julianne wasn’t the only one to suffer. It’s a good thing she’s sharing her story and we respect her for doing so, but girls reading this and going through the same need to know how to react. They need to be told not to keep quiet, but to speak out and get help.
