British coroner Paul Knapman has ruled that the death of Alexander McQueen was a suicide, and has said that the designer hanged himself after taking a cocktail of cocaine, sleeping pills and tranquilizers. He stated McQueen was under pressure from work saying he, “had a history of self-harm and, no doubt fueled by cocaine, he resorted to desperate measures to end his life.”
McQueen’s psychiatrist Dr. Stephen Pereira told the coroner’s court that the designer was diagnosed with mixed anxiety and depressive disorder and that McQueen had attempted suicide twice before. He stated, “He certainly felt very pressured by his work but it was a double-edged sword,” Dr Pereira said. “He felt it was the only area of his life where he felt he had achieved something. Usually after a show he felt a huge come-down. He felt isolated, it gave him a huge low.” He added that after his mother’s death, McQueen was “overwhelmed with grief” and “felt that was the one link that had gone from his life and there was very little to live for.”
Kelly Osbourne and her fiance Luke Worrall aren’t rushing down the aisle anytime soon. “I have no intentions of getting married anytime soon, and neither does he… I don’t want to be married until I’m 30,” she said on Here’s Barbara, Barbara Walter‘s Sirius XM radio show.
Her mother Sharon Osbourne is most happy at the news, Kelly added. “My Mom won’t let me get married.”
“Only the future will tell,” she said about getting marriage in the future. “Only time will tell. We don’t actually live as an engaged couple.” The hesitation is probably due to growing up in rock and roll, being Ozzy Osbourne’s daughter. She explained that she was “brought up in an industry where cheating is rampant….I grew up learning from men what relationships are all about. I’ve been tainted because of seeing it so young. There is no messing around when it comes to that area for me. And I do think that you’re right when you say that there is a genetic predisposition for somebody to be a cheater or not.”
There’s hope for Kelly and Luke, though. “I said yes just to say yes [to the proposal], and that’s the truth..to tell him no I felt would ruin our relationship…then after the first year, I started to realize… maybe I really do want to marry.”
“The Kennedys” is going to be the History Channel’s first scripted miniseries and they recently announced that Katie Holmes will portray Jacqueline Kennedy while Greg Kinnear is taking on the role of President John F. Kennedy. (What, was Tom Cruise busy?) Barry Pepper has been cast to play Robert Kennedy, who served as U.S. attorney general in his brother’s administration while Tom Wilkinson is taking on the role of the patriarch, Joseph Kennedy.
According to the channel, the eight-hour miniseries, which will air on the History Channel in 2011, will include the family’s personal drama along with major events of their time. Katie’s going to have to bring back the bob – and also her acting skills. Do you think she has what it takes to play the most famous First Lady ever?
Tito Ortiz and his lawyer are going to have to think of a new strategy now. Ortiz was arrested on Monday for felony domestic violence and claimed that the fight was over girlfriend Jenna Jameson‘s alleged OxyContin addiction, but that theory has just gone bust. TMZ reports that the former porn star passed a drug test one day after Tito and Jenna’s altercation.
The test was administered Tuesday by the American Toxicology Inc. in Las Vegas, and it shows Jenna tested “negative” for the ten major drugs they were screening for. The list includes cocaine, weed, meth and Oxycodone which is the major ingredient in OxyContin, the drug she’s been accused of being addicted to. Reaffirming her denial after receiving the test, Jameson says, “I am definitely not addicted to OxyContin or any drug.”
Her attorney Ronald Richards added, “The lab tests clearly exonerate Jenna Jameson of any hint, iota, or suggestion that she ingested or was under the influence of any opiates or controlled substances. Statements made by anyone to the contrary are completely impeached by the results from this prestigious testing facility.”
So apparently, Rick and Kathy Hilton have been “erroneously” receiving royalties - read, big fat checks – for several weight loss products for roughly 8 years, claim Herbalife International. And they want the money back!
According to Herbalife, the couple provided services to the company in 1992 to get a line of products going. The products contained ephedrine and were taken off the shelves in 2002 because ephedrine was banned by the FDA.
Herbalife’s lawsuit claims that despite discontinuing the line, the Hiltons kept raking in the royalties. There have been ongoing but futile discussions about how much, if anything, the Hiltons should return. Way to wake up 8 years later Herbalife. You probably paid for at least one of Paris Hilton‘s nose jobs during that time.
Britney Spears created a summer camp for under-privileged kids back in 1999 (pictured at a camp performance, above), because she’s charitable like that. TMZ reports that Britney’s camp is now in danger of going under, because for the first time in its eleven year history, no celebrity sponsors are stepping up with grants.
The ten-day summer program has space for 250 “economically disadvantaged students” and was originally named the “Britney Spears Camp for the Performing Arts.” Britney bowed out in 2004 and the camp’s name was then changed to “Summer Stars Camp.” The kiddie camp has never had any money problems before and has received generous donations from sponsors like 50 Cent and the Jonas Brothers.
The camp’s executive director says they’ve run out of money and have resorted to entering a contest run by Pepsi in the effort to raise $250, 000 to stay afloat. Someone send them a check ASAP. Gaga – we’re looking at you!
We can’t wait to bust out a couple of cosmos for this one! Liza Minnelli, who makes an amazing cameo in the highly anticipated Sex and the City 2, thinks that the movie is going to be a “blast.” She’s in good company; also popping into the movie are Penelope Cruz and Miley Cyrus.
Miz Minnelli sparkles in her sing-and-dance role (it’s all in the SATC2 trailer) and reveals this, “[It] was so much fun! It’s a wonderful number. We had a blast..It’s rock and roll. Everything is moving! And I just got a whole new knee, so I can promise you everything is moving!” Can’t wait to see Liza shake things up!
Adam Lambert is going on tour, finally! His “Glam Nation” extravaganza kicks off on June 4 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania and he’s going to be joined by fellow American Idol alumna powerhouse Allison Iraheta and guitarist Orianthi. The show wraps up on September 18 in St. Petersburg, Florida, with pit stops all over the country in between.
What can we expect from the Glambert experience? The man answered, “I hope the audience will be able to escape for a few hours and fall into a world full of glam, drama and excitement … And I would love everyone to come away with a new appreciation for the music on my album.”
He’s already shared the stage with Iraheta and has nothing but love for her, “I am such a fan of Allison’s music and I am so excited for her to perform it live in front of an audience. We have such a great brother-and-sister energy, having shared the stage both on ‘American Idol’ and on the tour [last] summer. She is pure rock and roll.”
Lambert’s also let on that the shows are going to be very theatrical in nature and that he wants his costumes to be very “cutting edge.” Er, obviously. “I hope to use some special-effects lighting,” Lambert says. “The Glam Nation tour is going to be very theatrical. People won’t be let down in the glam department; it’ll definitely be something to look at as well as listen to.”
Josh Hartnett and Abbie Cornish aren’t hiding their romance anymore. They went public at a private dinner at Macao Trading Co. on Church Street to help celebrate Channing Tatum’s 30th birthday. The bash was hosted by artist and Dactyl founder Neil Grayson. Fancy!
A witness reports, “They turned up after midnight . . . they definitely looked like a couple.” Other guests included Tatum’s wife, Jenna Dewan; Hayley Duff with her actor boyfriend, Nick Zano; and Tatum’s “Son of No One” co-stars James Ransone and Ray Liotta. We’ve just got one question: Ryan Phillipe who?
Ga Ga oh la la is right. Lollapalooza founder and Jane’s Addiction frontman Perry Farrell has got cracking on building a custom-built set for Lady GaGa when she takes the stage in Chicago’s Grant Park at the music festival. The price of the special stage? A whopping $150,000!
Farrell explains, “We’re bringing in a special stage for her, investing like a hundred grand to house what she’s doing. That’s massive. Only Lady GaGa could step in and say ‘I’m a headliner.'”
Looks like it’s going to be an enormous show – or at least an enormous stage!
