Two covers of Taylor Swift is never a bad thing. Especially not in the case of her March Elle covers (one’s for the subscriber issue) where she’s looking gorgeous in a metallic leather bomber jacket by Burberry Prorsum, seen on the right, and a sunshine printed dress by Louis Vuitton, respectively. This is going to be a tough one, because we know these two ladies have solid fan bases of their own. Read more…
What is it about Beyoncé ‘s magazine covers leaking? Actually, what are we saying? Should we be surprised? Not really. This is one of the hottest, most successful women on the planet, so it’s no wonder people are scrambling to get whatever they can, before anyone else does. Does that make it right? Nope. But we see why. Bey’s ridik awesome GQ cover was leaked a month ago, and that gave some filchers the cojones to try the same stunt with her March Vogue cover. And they succeeded. The gorgeous singer gracing the magazine’s face, in Givenchy, arrived, before schedule, just as the weekend kicked in. Vogue hurriedly then released the cover officially and we were absolutely floored by the spread of pictures. Quite aptly, she’s heading the “power” issue, where the magazine states she’s a, “Chart-topper, glamour wife, style icon, filmmaker, new mom, business mogul—Beyoncé is at the height of her powers and writing her own script.” And yes, famous friends like Timbaland and Gwyneth Paltrow do make appearences in the interview. Gwyneth’s quotes are in there — talking about BeyMamma and her baby Blue Ivy — relating, “Blue was sleeping in her arms, across her body, and B was listening back to what she had been working on. I thought, This is how you do it. You do what you love with who you love included” and later in the piece, “When she is working onstage, she has more power than any woman I’ve ever seen. She would never say it and has never said it, but I feel she knows with every fiber of her being that she is the best in the world at her job.” It’s a nice, long interview, and there’s a lot more insight into the superstar’s life, so settle in with a nice cup of tea with your read.

To see Chris Brown and Rihanna smiling and looking happy in their coupledom at the Grammys, one wouldn’t think that the bad boy singer was in a nasty car crash just hours prior to the event. Breezy was driving around in his Porsche this Saturday in L.A when he got mobbed by paparazzi. A spokesperson for the singer explained their side of the story in a detailed statement that read, “The occupants jumped out, with cameras, and aggressively approached his [Brown's] vehicle. In an effort to remove himself from the situation, he began to back down an alley, at which point he was cut off by two additional vehicles. Chris’ vehicle was totaled due to this aggressive pursuit by the paparazzi. He is okay.” We may not be the biggest Brown fans, but if this is what actually went down, then it crosses this line in so many different ways. When will photographers learn to back the eff off? How long till we have another Lady Diana tragic accident? Because of Brown’s legal problems and anger issues — most recently showcased in a fight with Frank Ocean — it’s most likely that he’s an easy target and gets baited by paparazzi just so they have a fight to photograph. Which is such a scummy thing to do. But this is all only valid if it happened in the first place, because the photographers are denying any involvement.
The photographers were from IMF, and their owner, Chris Doherty, told TMZ, “No photographers were following him at the time he crashed … He crashed his car and it’s convenient for him to blame us. He needs to be careful with his defamatory statements.” Chris may just respond with a lawsuit, as his spokesperson also told the site, “We plan on seeking criminal charges and holding them civilly liable.” Whatever happens now, we’re glad Brown is okay and could clean up and come to the Grammys. The Beverly Hills P.D has also issued a statement which details, “… Brown stated that he was being chased by paparazzi causing him to lose control of his vehicle. Brown’s Black Porsche was towed from the scene at his request.” Stay tuned. This one could very well go to court.

Now that the Grammys are done, we wanted to take a moment to reflect on one of our favorite stars who didn’t show up for the mega show. And we missed her amazo brand of crazy so very much. Lady Gaga — it ain’t a party without you. So, in nostalgia of Gaga Grammy moments past, we picked through her instagram page and brought out a very recent pared down version of the singer — seen on the left — drinking what we hope is a really stiff martini. Compared to the one on the right, pulled out of our archive of her all dolled up drinking a dainty cup of tea. Just lovely. Except, as you’ve probably guessed by now (or not) — That ain’t Gaga on the left. It’s Madonna. Yes, we know. It’s like all their feuding made them morph into the same person, right? We don’t know whether it’s the angle, or the way her bangs are cut, but we really do think Madge is a shoe-in for Mother Monster, without the makeup and all the other frills, of course. The picture was posted on Madonna’s instagram page and was cheerfully captioned, “cheers motherf—s! I’m on instagram.” This is really, really, pushing it. But perhaps the “cheers motherf—s” is aimed at a certain Academy for totally snubbing her album MDNA? Wishful thinking on our part.

Katy Perry had a very good weekend, sartorially speaking. This orange Alexander McQueen Resort 2013 gown is possibly the best she’s ever looked. Hands down stunning. She wore the outfit at the 2013 MusiCares Person of the Year Tribute over the weekend in L.A, where Bruce Springsteen was honored for his artistic and philanthropic achievements. But we were right in thinking we had seen the gown before. Emily Blunt wore the same gown to the attends the Harper’s Bazaar Women of the Year Awards in November last year, in London. Looking equally gorgeous, we might add. While Emily had her hair up in a chic bun, Katy wore hers down in loose, lovely waves. Both ladies didn’t wear any necklaces as the bejewelled halter neckline doesn’t need any embellishment. Emily had a black McQueen clutch on her person while Katy wore bling in the form of rings and bracelets. The gown also has a sexy low back, but is it just us or does Emily’s version — seen in the third and fourth pictures — dip lower than Katy’s? Either way, we’re floored by the gown on both of them. Which leads to the all-important question — who wore it better? Vote in the poll below and let us know.

We’re fascinated by the BAFTAs for some strange reason. Maybe it’s because of our love for all things across the pond — like Victoria and David Beckham, the Royals and fish and chips. This year, the EE British Academy Film Awards (sounds more grand in full form, doesn’t it) took place at The Royal Opera House, today. Sunday, to be exact. We’re okay with the 10 best-dressed ladies on the red carpet. Were we expecting to be more in awe of the fashion? Sure. But that’s just our weekender buzz which always extends our expectations. Two stars floored is the most on this list and for totally different reasons other than being dressed awesomely. Jessica Chastain leads the way for finally getting it right. All right. As in, not even one element of her look wrong, as she normally does. She looked divine in her cobalt blue, architectural marvel of a Roland Mouret gown. Paired perfectly with Jimmy Choos and classy Harry Winston jewels. Then, there was Dame Helen Mirren, who we plain adore, and who rocked the red carpet with a pink bob. We repeat — she rocked it in a pink bob. She’s 67-years-old and she flippin’ ballered a look we couldn’t pull off. We’re loving her dove grey Nicholas Oakwell gown with the silver pashima, as well.
Anne Hathaway‘s Burberry column with the striking silver rivets all over the bodice looked fantastic. The hot pink lippie was an excellent touch, too. Marion Cotillard‘s sunshine Dior gown from Raf Simons’ Spring 2013 Couture collection could only have been pulled off by her. She wasn’t the only one in yellow. Andrea Riseborough took on Brit designer Vivivienne Westwood, wearing a saucy daffodil colored couture gown with ribbon detailing over the bodice which matched her ribbon Brian Atwood shoes. It made her look wonderfully hour-glassed, unlike Jennifer Lawrence who needs to be fed some hot stew or something. Does she still have pneumonia? The sport wore a lovely white Dior Haute Couture dress with Jimmy Choo shoes, Chopard jewelry and a Judith Leiber bag, but looked alarmingly skinny. There were also two semi-goth looks this evening. The goth element being added by black chantilly lace through Thandi Newton‘s Louis Vuitton and Amy Adams Elie Saab gowns, respectively. Alicia Vikander in a minimal Christian Dior mullet dress and Juno Temple in Stella McCartney complete the list. Have a look through the gallery for the full looks and tell us who your favorites are!

All the cool boys and girls wanted to be at the Prabal Gurung for Target launch at Pier 57 in New York city on Wednesday night. Prabal’s designs have flooded this site, in best-dressed and worst-dressed lists alike, so love his work or hate it, you can’t ignore it. How we wish we could’ve been at this one, because it sounds like so much fun. The entire space was transformed into a modern day carnival complete with merry-go-rounds, fortune tellers, food carts and other games. Of course a shopping area was allocated too! And the very dapper Ne-Yo, as you can see above, gave a surprise performance. Three of our favorite, way cool faces also showed up. Carey Mulligan, after ages, was seen. Sadly, we could not get on board woth her trench and peach blouson as it just looked out of place with the intense eye makeup and slicked back hair she had styled. Carey can do so much better. Rashida Jones chose a periwinkle ruffled blouse with a black placket and collar, styled with black slaccks and pumps by Alexander Wang — her only concession to something not Prabal Gurung. And providing our favorite look for the evening was Elizabeth Olsen, who looked effortlessly chic in a coral and aqua dress with black waistband complemented by black ankle booties and a black coat. The coat must’ve been flung off as she danced to Ne-Yo. The life. Sigh.

See that big red cirle in the photograph above? That’s Rihanna sitting and listening intently to the proceedings during Chris Brown‘s court hearing yesterday. As you know, he was hauled back into court because it was believed that Brown had not completed his community service properly last year. Here’s the interesting part — Brown was required to do community service as a part of his sentence for assaulting Rihanna back in 2009. And here she is, with him in court to listen to his team swear that he did his time? It’s an odd sort of full circle, isn’t it? His team came prepared, too, considering Chris’ lawyer, Mark Geragos, was on the offensive from the get-go. He went off at a press conference stating, “I have never had a client who has been tortured like Chris Brown has” adding, “The D.A. is paralyzed with the thought his probation will be terminated. If that happens they won’t be able to jock him around like they’ve been jocking him around.”
In court, Geragos fought back against allegations that Chris had lied about completing his required 180 hours of community service by presenting legal documents including invoices and other proof showing that his client had paid $31,534.70 to the Richmond PD for security during his service. The D.A had stated that Brown hadn’t done so. Geragos also presented various documents that showed proof that Brown had done service at various police departments. This is just the start of it, because there are still a lot of accusations against Chris, one being that his mother had filled out his hours and his team had tampered with the details. But Geragos insists that he’s on the job and so far, ”what we’ve uncovered so far should shock the conscience of the court. And this is only the tip of the iceberg.” This should be interesting.

New York Fashion Week kicked off with the always eagerly awaited, celebrity-model filled “The Heart Truth’s Red Dress Collection” fashion show, held at the Hammerstein Ballroom yesterday. The show was created to raise awareness for women’s heart issues and deatures stars walking the runway in red dresses loaned by top designers. This year, we adored Minka Kelly in a graceful, pleated and draped Oscar de la Renta Resort 2013 gown. Kelly Osbourne wore a hot, strapless mermaid fishtail by Zac Posen, while Jamie Chung took on slinky deep cherry sequins from the David Meister Signature collection. Toni Braxton looked sultry in a halter Herve L. Leroux gown, while Gabrielle Douglas looked poised in a Pamella Roland mullet dress. The Jenner family walked the ramp too — Kris, Kendall and Kylie — in bright red Badgley Mischka gowns. We have to say, the girls looks absolutely lovely. Rounding up the ladies is, Roselyn Sanchez who had a blast in Tadashi Shoji as she shimmied down the runway. You can see all the looks in our gallery below. Whose gown is your favorite?
