Celebrities Defend Oscars Nominee Quvenzhané Wallis Against The Onion’s “C*nt” Tweet

celebs-vs-the-onion

If another person tries to explain satire to me as if I didn’t learn that in middle school, I will scream. We get it: The Onion is a satirical website, a funny one that this writer used to visit frequently. No one and no topic is off limits in their brand of satirical comedy. None of that excuses the site or the tweet’s author for calling nine-year-old Oscar nominee Quvenzhané Wallis the c-word. There’s no satire or comedy in degrading a child who, by the way, was making history at last night’s Oscars as the youngest nominee ever.

Oscars 2013: Adele, Ben Affleck And Jennifer Lawrence Keep It Real By Putting Their Emotions On Display

The Oscars are too fancy shmancy for anyone to walk on stage with their “Thank You’s” written out on a tiny piece of scrap paper or, even worse, read from the winner’s iPhone. Instead, Oscar attendees tend to have carefully thought out shout outs that get straight to the point. Oscars 2013: Jennifer Hudson Takes It To Church With “And I’m Telling You”

When actor Mark Wahlberg announced a tie for the winner of best sound editing the Oscars attendees thought it was a joke. “No, I’m not kidding,” Wahlberg said. It was true. For only the third time in the history of the Academy Awards, two people would take home an Oscar for the same category.  Read more…

Oscars 2013: Ooooh La La, Red Carpet Arm Candy

lead-oscars

On the biggest night of the year for film there are two rules: show up stylish and bring a date that matches your fly. Before the night’s wins and epic/not so epic speeches, the stroll down the red carpet is one of the most important moments of the night. Who is on your favorite actors’ arms matters. A celebrities arm candy is, well, an extension of themselves. Halle Berry could never show up with a man who looks anything less than so perfect that he looks handcrafted by God himself. And if George Clooney showed up with a lady with a messy bun and a scantily clad dress (which he did not) he’d quickly find himself fodder for salacious headlines. Without further ado get into all the arm candy that graced the red carpet.

Angela Bassett Couldn’t Keep Her Eyes Off Of Beyonce At VH1 Divas Diana Ross Tribute Years Ago

Years ago Beyonce‘s claim to fame was being 1/3 of the group Destiny’s Child whose song titles repeated the same word three times– “No, No, No and “Bills, Bills, Bills.” Bey put on her solo artist wings and flew, but not before Destiny’s Child became one of the highest selling girl groups of all time. Actress Angela Bassett remembers being in awe of Beyonce at a VH1 Divas live show way back before Destiny’s child would become Destiny’s superstar icon. Read more…
