Take note, all you spoilery movie trailer editors: This is how you give us multiple trailers that satisfy our craving (sorry) for new stuff, without giving up the whole movie. The second Hunger Games trailer doesn’t contain a single new scene that wasn’t in the teaser or the first theatrical trailer (except for this one glimpse of Katniss in a yellow dress, above), but it gives us new quotes and new camera angles that reveal just a little more about the characters and plot. For instance, what was just Gale’s voiceover from the teaser about her being stronger than the other tributes we now get to see coming from him directly. And the only thing that kind of bugs us, just because it’s so different from the book, is that opening moment with the pin (more on that later).
The general feeling of trailer #2 is less eerie (and the soundtrack has a lot to do with that), more dramatic. Katniss seems a little more vulnerable, while Peeta starts to come to life a little more. Flip through the gallery of 10 new things we noticed, and then let us know what you noticed too!

To our 2011 selves who may have maybe for a minute doubted that Josh Hutcherson and Jennifer Lawrence would make the right Peeta and Katniss in The Hunger Games, I present exhibit A: the actors’ latest interview with MTV News. The two are absolutely hilarious together, teasing and complimenting each other in a way that suggests they formed a real bond in the arena. Our favorite moment is when they’re asked what they’re looking forward to in the sequels, Catching Fire and Mockingjay. Major spoilers and video after the jump.
Well, OK, as far as we know there are no actual ravens in Shiver author Maggie Stiefvater’s upcoming four-book series, but we are still super excited to see what kind of magic occurs in The Raven Boys, the first installment, due out September 18. Stiefvater, whose flesh-eating horse novel Scorpio Races not only won the prestigious Printz honor but also is also being adapted by Warner Bros., announced the new series this morning.
According to her publisher, Scholastic (that little house that also brought us The Hunger Games), the book is about two very different kids growing up in Virginia. Blue Sargent (name trend!) is the daughter of the town psychic, but she doesn’t really believe the prophecy that she’ll kill her true love if she kisses him. Richard “Dick” Campbell Gansey III is one of the rich boys attending the nearby Aglionby Academy, and despite seeming to have it all, he’s on a search for a mythological Welsh king who will supposedly grant a wish to the first person who finds him. Gansey and his private school friends call themselves the Raven Boys, hence the title. Somehow, these two cross paths.
We like to think that our weekly Hotness poll isn’t all about looks — personality plays a big part in our celebrity lust. But this week’s choice will run even deeper for some of you as we pit this week’s Super Bowl quarterbacks, the Patriots’ Tom Brady and the Giants’ Eli Manning, against each other in a tough matchup. Do you go for classically handsome Tom, with his deep-set baby blues, dimpled chin and supermodel wife? Or does sweet boy-next-door Eli, with his goofy smile and his ability to pull through in a clutch?* Do you vote for New York or New England (or AGAINST New York or New England), regardless of the QBs’ cuteness? Whatever you do, vote early, vote often and don’t get any guacamole on your mouse during halftime. Poll closes on Sunday night at 11 p.m.
*We tried to say something more articulately sporty here, but it is not our forte. On this of all weeks, we really hope you’re not turning to us for wisdom on how a football player plays football.

Rolling Stone has just posted the above brand-new Hunger Games photo, featuring Cinna and Katniss’ last moment together before she enters the arena, making us almost Kristen-Bell-sloth-level excited that there’s only 50 days (and a few hours) before the movie is out. It’s the kind of quiet scene that could be screwed up in a movie adaptation that’s filled with all that action and drama, but we think Gary Ross, Jennifer Lawrence and Lenny Kravitz just might get it right. Especially when we hear Lenny describe his character to RS: “He’s very streamlined, he’s very quiet. He knows what he’s doing. He’s confident. He’s got a big heart. I just liked the way he moved — very smooth.”
The rocker reveals that he took the role because he admired Suzanne Collins’ storytelling in the book. “I’m very much into stories. The character was interesting. I like Gary’s previous work. And I said, Yeah, let’s go.”

This may sound suuuuper creepy, we are aware. But after seeing an excerpt of Katherine Heigl and Anderson Cooper reminisce about their days as child models for Macy’s and Sears catalogs in an interview airing on Anderson tonight, we are dying to see more. Especially after Anderson imitated the cool-guy point that boys were always instructed to do. Adorbs. Katherine continued to model, even as her acting career started to take off when she was 15, so we’ve found a few fansites with scans of her magazine spreads in Seventeen and the like. But Anderson seems to have kept his pics under wraps, revealing them only to benefit his own show. Well, Mr. Silver Fox, since we so amused you with our Courtney Stodden interview, would you so kindly return the favor and share more from your … less-silver days?
In the meantime, here’s Katherine being a stylish jock in a 1994 issue of Seventeen:
Star magazine is coming out with a story from an “insider” claiming that Snooki is about to announce that she and boyfriend Jionni LaValle are expecting their first child. “She is pregnant and has only told her closest friends and some family,” the source says. Hmmm. Here’s why we’re skeptical:
1) One of us here at TheFABlife just had a Snooki and JWoww spotting yesterday and says she is still looking her newly skinny 98 lb. self.
2) The 24-year-old Jersey Shore party girl hardly seems like the type to settle down just yet, even if she’s found true love.
3) It wouldn’t be good news for her Zantrex-3 endorsement deal. The diet supplement, which contains a whole lot of caffeine and other stimulants, is hardly a healthy choice for expecting ladies. Zantrex-3′s site even warns: “Zantrex-3 is not intended for use if you are pregnant or nursing.”
That face Daniel Radcliffe is making above mirrors exactly the one we had when we read his latest interview with U.K. magazine Heat, via The Sun. Not that it’s all that gross, mind you, just … well, it’s a little hard to think about coming from Harry Potter, even if he is 22. Talking about nudity in his upcoming movie Kill Your Darlings, he told the magazine, “It might have a bit of nudity and [the director] said: ‘Just to let you know, if you’re getting naked, no landscaping of any kind. This is the 1940s and you’re playing a Jew.’ I was like, ‘Pretty much there anyway, mate! Not a huge amount of maintenance going on.’ I mean, there’s a little bit, obviously, for courtesy.”
Um. And now that you’ve processed what amount of “courtesy” he gives to girlfriend Rosie Coker, we can move on to even more TMI, by DanRad’s own admission. Read more…
Usually, it’s hard to think about next fall’s TV lineup when we haven’t even caught up on all the American Idol audition episodes in our DVR, but this year, we’re allowing ourselves to be a wee bit excited. ‘Tis the season for networks to order up pilots, and they seem to have done so with us in mind. The CW is delivering us another hot superhero, while Fox and ABC have gotten the memo that funny ladies are SO IN. Here are some pilots we’re crossing our fingers for:
- Stephen Amell was announced today as the title character of the CW’s Green Arrow, a rich playboy who saves his down with, you guessed it, super special arrows. The show’s being produced by Green Lantern’s Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim, and Fringe co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg. Amell most recently played a male prostitute on Hung, but in our minds he will always be known as the vindictive werewolf who tortured Caroline on The Vampire Diaries. And an image search for pics of him shirtless will lead you to some interesting websites. Just saying.
- Arrested Development vet Judy Greer, who’s been getting rave reviews for her small but pivotal role in The Descendants, is the star of American Judy, a single-camera comedy ordered by ABC, per Deadline. The story, loosely based on her own experience, follows a woman who gets married, moves to the suburbs and becomes a step-mother to kids whose mom is the sheriff of the town.
Whether he’s in scrubs, covered in blood or in a silly ’70s costume, Being Human’s broody vampire nurse Aidan is hot. So it should come as no surprise that the actor who plays him in the SyFy version of the BBC show, Sam Witwer, isn’t too picky when it comes to his clothing. “If it’s comfortable, I wear it,” he told us when he stopped by the VH1 office before appearing on Big Morning Buzz Live today. We think his comfort deserves a second look.
