Matt Damon Hosts Jimmy Kimmel Sucks: Our 5 Favorite Zingers

After being “bumped” from Jimmy Kimmel Live “1,205″ times for the past 10 years, Matt Damon exacted his revenge on the late-night host by kidnapping him, tying him to a chair and hosting one of our favorite stunt episodes of a talk show ever. Andy Garcia (sporting a hilarious fake accent), Nicole Kidman, Robin Williams, Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Reese Witherspoon, Sarah Silverman, “band leader” Sheryl Crow and a very weird-looking Demi Moore all made appearances — thus proving that Matt could get anyone and everyone to visit (not that Kimmel’s ever really had trouble with that). And of course, it turned into a great big roast of the host, who recently got his show moved up an hour to the highly competitive 11:35 p.m. slot. Here are our 5 favorite insults (of many!):

“Kimmel is the Death Star, big and round and easily destroyed through his garbage hole.” Matt Damon, who likewise compared himself to Luke Skywalker

“He’s just, he’s not classy.” — Nicole Kidman on why she’s never been on the show before

Alexander Skarsgard, Adam Brody, Joseph Gordon-Levitt & More: The Male Eye Candy Of Sundance

Adam Brody, Ricky Whittle, Daniel Dae Kim and Alexander Skarsgard at Sundance

As the 2013 Sundance Film Festival enters its homestretch, we’ve noticed one thing about it: This year seems more about the films than the star-studded, super-sponsored A-list parties. Which, um, we’re pretty sure is what Robert Redford wants from his Utah fest. Lucky enough for those of us living vicariously through our friends (and photographers) in Park City, there has still been no shortage of eye candy. Here, we’re taking a moment to point out the lovely array of actors who put on their best puffy jackets and risked some great hat-hair to premiere their artsy movies. From Joseph Gordon-Levitt to Alexander Skarsgard, Adam Brody to Chris Noth, there were plenty of familiar faces at the festival, along with some relative newcomers like Austenland’s Ricky Whittle. We even gave Matthew McConaughey an honorary spot in this gallery, because even though his drastic weight loss for Dallas Buyers Club has sapped his conventional beauty, he’s looking kinda weird hot as he packs the pounds back on. And if there’s anything that’s appropriate for Sundance, it’s definitely the phrase “weird hot.”

Daniel Radcliffe, Kill Your Darlings Co-Stars Fess Up To Their Poetry-Writing Days

Between last year’s On the Road and this year’s Sundance flicks Kill Your Darlings and Big Sur, it’s safe to say the Beat Generation is having a moment. The real mystery to us, actually, is why they’re not always having a moment. Because if you were anything like us in high school, you either went through a phase in which you wanted to be Allen Ginsberg, Jack Kerouac or William Boroughs, or you dated someone who did. VH1 News found further proof that this is a thing when they interviewed the cast of Kill Your Darlings at its Sundance premiere last weekend.

“I wrote a lot of poetry when I was a teenager,” Daniel Radcliffe, who plays a college-age Allen Ginsberg in the film, confessed. What he likes in particular about Ginsberg in the movie, he said, is,”Everyone’s experienced that massive self-doubt. Howl is a poem written by someone who’s terrified that they can’t write.”

Twilight World? Stephenie Meyer, Austenland Stars Discuss Which Books Would Make The Best Theme Park

You don’t have to read too much into Twilight to realize that before she was the creator of books people obsess over, Stephenie Meyer was obsessed with other people’s books. She took that obsession to new levels recently, becoming a producer on the film Austenland, based on Shannon Hale’s book about a woman (played by Keri Russell) who visits a Jane Austen theme park in search of some old-fashioned romance. At the flick’s Sundance premiere, VH1 News asked Meyer and a handful of the movie’s stars what books or authors they’d like to see made into theme parks, a la The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

“[Austenland] is my theme park,” Meyer said. “If this place really existed, if I could go and dress up in Regency attire and hang out all day, reading books in a beautiful library, I would totally … That’s my vacation.”

And no, she doesn’t really see a Twilight World in our future. “There was interest in that, and honestly, what are you going to do?” she asked. “That doesn’t sound like fun. What kind of rides are you going to have? There’s not as much scope for an amusement park there.”

I don’t know, Stephenie, I think a lot of us would love the chance to hop on Edward’s back for a ride through the treetops.

Speaking of Twilight mania, Meyer told us that none of that craziness followed her to the Austenland set, which lived up to its idyllic name in the English countryside:

Did Nicole Scherzinger Suffer A Nip-Flashing Wardrobe Malfunction? Maaaaaybe…

Nicole Scherzinger in a sheer dress at the National Television Awards in the U.K.

Ah, how we love the mornings when we find ourselves staring for an hour at a celebrity’s chest and playing “nipple/not nipple.” Today’s subject: Nicole Scherzinger, who wore quite the stunning black William Vintage Ossie Clark dress to the National Television Awards in London on Wednesday night. Like many a black gown before hers, this one turned sheer in the glare of a million camera bulbs. And naturally, many of our fellow gossip sites are calling out “wardrobe malfunction!” But we’re feeling a little contrary. Mostly because we have boobs, and our nipples have no reflective quality the way Nicole’s appear to in this photo, and even in the one below, where the flash is a little dimmer.

Katniss Everdeen, Clary Fray, Melanie Stryder & More: The 13 Heroines Who’ll Make 2013 Kick Ass

The Host, Catching Fire, Prodigy, City of Bones and more stories of great heroines in 2013

If you take stories like The Hunger Games, The Host and Warm Bodies to heart, you might think we don’t have much to look forward to in the distant post-apocalyptic future. But in the more immediate days ahead, like say, the rest of 2013, there’s a whole lot to be excited for — especially if you like ladies who kick ass, stand up for what they believe in and protect their loved ones at all costs. It’s going to be a great year for heroines in movies, on TV and in books — but not necessarily the easy-to-love/worship kind. Jennifer Lawrence‘s Katniss Everdeen (this year in Catching Fire), The Americans‘ Elizabeth (Keri Russell), Beautiful Creatures‘ Lena (Alice Englert) and The Great Gatsby’s Daisy (Carey Mulligan) are complex women and girls who don’t automatically know what’s right, and sometimes they have to choose saving themselves over saving the world. The Mortal Instruments‘ Clary Fray (Lily Collins), Shadow and Bones‘ Aline, Delirium’s Lena and Warm Bodies‘ Julie (Teresa Palmer) have a little self-discovery to do before they become full-fledged heroines. The Legend Trilogy’s June and The Host’s Wanderer/Melanie (Saoirse Ronan) have to navigate between worlds to figure out whom to fight for. And Oz‘s Glinda (Michelle Williams) and Ender’s Game’s Petra (Hailee Steinfeld) are ladies whose strength is obvious, but whose roles in the bigger picture remains to be seen. As for Chloe Moretz’s Hit Girl, who returns in this summer’s Kick-Ass 2 — she’s always going to be in a category all her own.

Whatever your favorite brand of strong female is, we hope you’re looking forward to seeing them in action as much as we are! Check them out in the gallery below, and plan your year accordingly!

Delirium Headed To The Small Screen As Fox Orders Pilot Based On YA Trilogy

Fox ordered a pilot based on teen trilogy Delirium

We’ve been worried for years now that all the hype over The Hunger Games and Divergent would completely derail any adaptations of one of our other favorite dystopian young adult series, Lauren Oliver’s Delirium. So we were jumping up and down (as much as our not-yet-caffeinated brains would allow) at the news from TVLine.com that Fox has ordered a pilot based on the novels, to be penned by Prison Break’s Karyn Usher.

If you haven’t read the novels (#3, Requiem, comes out in March), don’t go assuming it’s like all the others. This one follows the story of Lena, a girl who’s very excited about the upcoming procedure all 18-year-olds receive, which protects them from the disease of love. Oliver likes to joke that it’s only “dystopia” if you think love is a good thing. Well, we kind of love the idea of expanding this dark world into a TV series. We’ll give you more info on it as soon as we learn more!

Kerry Washington’s Krazy Django Gown Gives Her An Edge In Our Awards Season Style Points Race

Kerry Washington leads Style Points awards season race

We’re in a rare down week of awards season, and while most editors are breathing a sigh of relief and/or eyeing the bundled-up fashions of the Sundance stars, we decided to keep going with the VH1 Celebrity Style Points awards season competition. In lieu of an actual event to judge, we had our panel — Yahoo! Entertainment’s New York bureau chief Breanne Heldman, MTV Style’s associate editor Maud Deitch, Glamour online style editor Nikki Ogunnaike, and our own Ambika Muttoo and Sabrina Rojas Weiss — look back at an outfit each of the eight contenders wore to a movie premiere in the past year. Emma Stone, Kerry Washington, Anne Hathaway, Bradley Cooper, Eddie Redmayne, Amanda Seyfried, Jessica Chastain and Jennifer Lawrence were delightfully unpredictable at these events, and we love how that shook up the results a bit.

Nikki: +4 “Consider Kerry my newest style crush. She killed it on the Django press tour, and this Peter Pilotto dress was just the beginning. There are so many things going on with this dress that it could be considered a don’t, but I think she pulls it off with aplomb.”
Maud: +3 “While my first reaction was to rub my eyes and say, ‘Wait, what?’ to this dress, I really love the way it fits her. I love how willing she is to step over into the whimsical. That said, it’s wearing her a little bit.”
Breanne: +3 “I know many people hated this dress — it was featured in our ‘What Were They Thinking?!’ column — but I kinda dig it. It’s got such a fun sense of whimsy. We’re so used to seeing Kerry in power suits on TV; I love seeing her be so playful on the red carpet. Love it or hate it, I dare you to name anyone who would be able to pull off this Peter Pilotto number as well.”
Ambika: +2 “This Peter Pilotto is SO cray I begrudgingly like it. It takes cojones to wear something like that, so while it is truly nuts … I applaud her.”
Sabrina: +3 “This looks like a parody of crazy red-carpet style. Which is why I am blown away by how good Kerry looks in it. Don’t try this at home.”

Average score: 3

Shakira, Gerard Pique Welcome Baby Boy!

Shakira had her baby Milan

Congrats to Shakira and her soccer star boyfriend Gerard Pique — because we assume they wouldn’t trick us twice on this. “We are happy to announce the birth of Milan Piqué Mebarak, son of Shakira Mebarak and Gerard Piqué, born January 22nd at 9:36pm, in Barcelona, Spain,” reads a note on Shakira’s website, adding that mother and baby are in excellent health. While we immediately thought back to all the other celebrity babies named after famous places (hello, Brooklyn and Tennessee), the new parents have a different explanation for Milan: “The name Milan (pronounced MEE-lahn), means dear, loving and gracious in Slavic; in Ancient Roman, eager and laborious; and in Sanskrit, unification.”

Thankfully, they follow that bit up with a more lighthearted statement about the new arrival: “Just like his father, baby Milan became a member of FC Barcelona at birth.” We just wonder what the players for AC Milan think of this? (Oof, our sports jokes never work!)
