Jersey Shore Cast’s VD Clause Is Kind Of The Most Real Thing About Them

Snooki and Vinny on The Jersey Shore
I think we’re supposed to be scandalized by the revelation that the cast of the Jersey Shore, and supposedly many other reality show participants, signed a contract with the following clause:

“Producer hereby informs me, and I acknowledge and accept, that the other participants have not been screened for any diseases, sicknesses or other health conditions (and specifically have not been tested for any sexually transmitted diseases) and I assume all risks of interacting with the other participants, including any consensual contact.”

This was uncovered by author and entertainment journo Seth Kaufman as he researched his reality-TV set novel, The King of Pain. Kaufman explained to the New York Daily News that TV insiders told him this kind of clause is common.

Embrace Your Not-So-Angelic Fictional Boyfriends Of The Week — And Who Should Play Them On TV

Dave Franco and Ezra Miller, our casting choices for a TV show based on "Embrace"

Angels have been a big trend in young adult fiction for a couple of years now, and while I’ve read my fair share of novels about Nephilim and demon fighters and fallen Seraphim and all the rest, I have to admit this isn’t a topic that naturally draws me in. Often angel-themed books have to spend a lot of time explaining their mythology — which is far from standard Judeo-Christian beliefs — before you can get to know the characters. While Fictional Boyfriends I’m about to introduce you to are steeped in their own world too, something about them will draw you in immediately. No joke, I read this book in a single afternoon without coming up for air.

Who: Lincoln and Phoenix

From: Embrace, by Jessica Shirvington

What’s Their Story? Violet Eden met Lincoln a few years ago in a self-defense class and immediately started crushing on him, but the older boy has kept their relationship strictly platonic as he’s taken her on as his private kickboxing/running/rock-climbing student. It turns out, he’s actually something called a Grigori, a half-angel/half-human guardian charged with sending rogue angels on earth back to their own realm. And Violet’s the half-angel destined to be his partner … if she chooses to “Embrace” the Grigori life too.

Violet sensed something strange about Phoenix when they met on the dance floor on her 17th birthday, and the way he tracked her down certainly is creepy. It turns out he’s actually one of the aforementioned rogue angels living on earth. He swears to Violet that he’s got not evil intentions and just really wants to live like a human … and enjoy Vi’s intimate company.

Why We Love Them: Lincoln didn’t have to find Violet and train her before her 17th birthday, but he wanted to. And it turns out he’s been keeping things firmly in the friends zone because to be more to each other would be dangerous. That kind of protective instinct and self control is admirable, and super frustrating. But when he whispers, “Did you ever think we would be anything other than unbelievable?” our knees give way as much as Vi’s. Phoenix, on the other hand, doesn’t play hard to get. He’s got the allure of the completely smitten bad-boy, which Violet can’t resist. Especially since she’s all but given up on Lincoln. Sometimes, the challenge of taming someone so dangerous is an aphrodisiac on its own.

Where Will This Love Go Next? Book two of the series, Entice, is due out in the states on September 15. I’ve heard rumors that the book is being considered for an American TV series, which sounds awesome: It would mean so many opportunities to see Lincoln and Violet as an angel-fighting, humanity-saving team. Plus I can see big potential with Vi’s best friend Steph if she had some screen time. As for fantasy casting, I’m dreaming big for Lincoln, who’s described as having sun-streaked brown hair and a tan: Dave Franco. I can certainly picture a girl crushing on that grin of his. And for black-haired, dark-eyed Phoenix, I’d love to see Perks of Being a Wallflower‘s Ezra Miller in the role — he looks dangerous and heart-melting all at once. It’s hard to imagine either of these up-and-comers going to TV at the moment, but I can dream, can’t I?

Ted Stars Share Their Childhood Fashion Regrets: From Mullets To Fanny Packs

In Seth MacFarlane’s Ted, Mark Wahlberg‘s character is rather haunted by a wish he made as a kid, that his teddy bear could talk. Thankfully, not all of us are forced to deal with our questionable childhood decisions on a daily basis. But just to embarrass the beautiful and funny folks on the red carpet of the Ted premiere earlier this week, VH1 News asked them what fashion decisions from their early years they regret now. We got some pretty hilarious answers.

We have a hard time picturing beautiful Ted co-stars Jessica Barth and Laura Vandervoort committing the fashion faux pas they described to us.

“I had a mullet,” Barth admitted. “It was cut, like, to here, with feathers, and then really long layers down here. I was not cute!”

Canadian Vandervoort’s description sounded even scarier. “Probably when I had a pager and a fanny pack and I wore all Mountain Equipment Co-op clothing — I don’t know if you guys have that here, but in Canada we do.”

Tom Cruise And Katie Holmes Are Divorcing: All Mourn TomKat!

Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes Divorce

How’s this for a sad start to your weekend? People is reporting that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are getting a divorce.

“This is a personal and private matter for Katie and her family,” Holmes’ attorney Jonathan Wolfe told People. “Katie’s primary concern remains, as it always has been, her daughter’s best interest.”

Update: According to TMZ, it was Katie who filed for divorce in New York yesterday, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking sole custody of 6-year-old Suri. The site claims Tom was “blindsided” by the whole thing.

Cruise, 49, and Holmes, 33, have been married for five years. They got engaged in June 2005, following a whirlwind romance, and shortly after that announced that Katie was pregnant. They were married in Italy in November 2006 when daughter Suri was 7 months old. This was Tom’s third marriage and Katie’s first.

We’ll keep you updated as more news becomes available. Part of us is still hoping this is just a publicity stunt to boost Rock of Ages’ box-office numbers and they’ll live happily ever after very soon. Sigh.

Joe Manganiello Sings “Hungry Like The Wolf,” A Brilliant Career Move

Happy Magic Mike day, everyone! While Joe Manganiello has been doing nonstop press to promote his role as Big Dick Richie and the new season of True Blood, we noticed a little tweet of his yesterday that means even more to us than his body roll demonstration on Today. It was a link to the above video of him onstage at a Laguna Beach club with ’80s cover band Flashback Heart Attack singing Duran Duran’s “Hungry Like the Wolf.” From what we can tell, this happened a few weeks ago, and Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was also in attendance (hence Joe’s “Go Steelers!” at the end). But we think it’s perfect that the video is just surfacing this week. Here’s why:

  • It’s a sign to the producers of the proposed Magic Mike Broadway musical that he’s a possible candidate for the stage version. Sure, Joe’s off-key and probably drunk as he leans in to sing the chorus, but he’s certainly showing his potential … and willingness.

Channing Tatum’s Thong Trust: The Best Magic Mike Star Quotes All In One Package

Magic Mike

This is a bittersweet weekend: On one hand, we finally get to see Magic Mike in theaters. On the other, we will no longer have Magic Mike as an excuse to post shirtless pictures of Channing Tatum and Co. on this blog every other day. But as one last hurrah, we decided to gather the choicest of quotes from the stars of this Steven Soderbergh-directed masterpiece — about the craft of acting, the depth of their characters, artful lighting … er, we mean, thongs, getting naked with a bunch of guys and learning those body rolls!

Jordin Sparks’ Sparkle Fashion Makes Us Want To “Celebrate” Too

Jordin Sparks in the "Celebrate" video

For a while now, we’ve been thinking of Sparkle as “the movie that makes us really sad about Whitney Houston.” We probably weren’t alone, which is why the release of Jordin Sparks’ video for the soundtrack single “Celebrate” was a brilliant move. The movie pays touching homage to Whitney, who plays mother to a 1960s girl group, while also urging us to brush off those sad feelings and get up and dance. By the end, we not only want to go out and see the movie, starring Sparks, Carmen Ejogo and Tika Sumpter, we want to go shopping and buy all of their dresses first. The video intercuts scenes from the movie with new scenes in which the girls, plus co-stars Mike Epps, Omari Hardwick, Derek Luke and a few others, party in updated but vintage-inspired dresses and suits.

Sparks is flirty and fun in the orange cocktail dress above (with Derek Luke as the perfect accessory!). We love the modern cut mixed with that mod-’60s tailoring and bow in the back.

This animal-print, pleated dress shows off Jordin’s super-svelt figure. Its the most contemporary of the bunch but mixes nicely with the other pieces.

Ann Curry Leaves Today: 10 Style Moments That Make Us Miss Her Already

Ann Curry

Ann Curry finally made it official. In a tearful announcement this morning, she told Today viewers that it would be her last morning as co-host of the show. After a year of co-hosting the show, she’ll be taking on a role as “TODAY Anchor at Large and National and International Correspondent.” Many have speculated that she was to blame for the morning show losing its #1 spot in the ratings for the first time in 16 years. She doesn’t think so and told USA Today that she wishes she had more time to work out the “kinks.”.

Whether or not you’re relieved someone else (maybe Savannah Guthrie) will be joining Matt Lauer on the couch every morning, you can’t deny one thing that will be sorely missed when Curry goes off to be “at large” or whatever it is she’s doing: Her colorful, daring style. She told USA Today that her fashion statements were part of her commitment to viewers, “I’ve tried very hard to be what they need — even in the crazy-colored highlighter-toned dresses I wear that you could probably see from outer space. I’ve worn them because I know every one of us needs a little brightness in the morning.”

Here is a look back at some of the brightness (and a few bits of black and white) that Curry has brought to the show for the past year:

Kim Kardashian, Arnold Schwarzenegger Blamed For Michael Jackson’s Death In Fever Dream Lawsuit

Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kim Kardashian, Michael Jackson and Macaulay Culkin

Have you ever spent all day reading gossip blogs and magazines and watching reality TV, only to fall asleep and dream that the likes of Kim Kardashian and Macaulay Culkin have leapt from the screen and into your life. And then when you wake up, you’re kind of left with this feeling that you might actually be friends with famous people. It’s especially good if this celebrity overload is because you’re home with a fever of some kind. No? Just us?

Anyway, this actual real-life lawsuit a friend of a friend brought to our attention today, filed Monday in the real-life United States District Court, Eastern District of California, reads exactly like one of those fever dreams. The plaintiff is seeking restraining orders against Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kim Kardashian and Conrad Murray. Because, um, he saw Kim have sex with Murray at Michael Jackson‘s house, thus distracting the doctor and causing MJ’s death. “Macaulay Culkin was with me and is a witness.” Also, Governor Arnold was blackmailing Kardashian into having sex with him, and was punched by Barry Bonds because he’d been promised pardon in exchange for signed bats and a James Bond DVD. And Kim is pen pals with Bernie Madoff. We could go on, but we feel the fever coming back. Read for yourself:

Did Miley Cyrus Hook Up With Jennifer Lawrence On The Hunger Games Set? Hilarious Rumor Of The Day

Jennifer Lawrence and Miley Cyrus at the People's Choice Awards, Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus at the Hunger Games premiere

One of our bosses just walked out of his office saying “I hate the Internet.” We’re pretty sure he was joking … or he’s secretly a Miley Cyrus fan. Because if we were Miley or one of her fans, that’s how we’d feel today. First there’s the latest rumor, which we read via GossipCop, that Liam Hemsworth has threatened to call off their engagement if she doesn’t start eating more. Which, girl is looking quite thin these days, but that is what happens when you cut out gluten, and she seems OK in the muscle tone department, and also, what century do we live in that any man would dare say such a thing? Internet rumor number two is much more fascinating and timely: Crushable brought our attention to a blind item that states that two young actors from “one of the biggest movies of the year” weren’t hooking up with each other, as some speculated, but in fact “the female lead DID have an on set fling – but not with her costar – with her costar’s GIRLFRIEND when she came to visit!” And Crushable, along with all of the commenters on BlindGossip.com, are convinced that this is referring to Miley, Liam and his Hunger Games co-star Jennifer Lawrence.

Huh. We wouldn’t blame Miley for wanting to hook up with Katniss — she’s enough to make anyone consider switching teams. But based on how adorably chummy JLaw, Hemsworth and Josh Hutcherson were on the set and in interviews after the fact, we have a really hard time believing Jen would jeopardize that relationship. Especially given the fact that they have to make three more movies together and hooking up with Miley would make things rather awkward. So, yeah, the Internet. What are you going to do with it? Let’s just go back to admiring Jennifer’s real-life heroic efforts.
