Model Bar Refaeli has earned the top spot on Maxim’s Hot 100 list for 2012, the first list in which readers’ votes helped determine the list. Though the Israeli beauty is a mainstay on the list, the top spot usually goes to ladies with a much higher profile in music or film — pop stars like Katy Perry and Christina Aguilera, actresses like Olivia Wilde, and cross-over model-actresses like Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, who was last year’s #1. (Model Marissa Miller was the one previous exception.) The 27-year-old has dipped her toe in the acting pool, appearing in the psychological thriller Session last year, and according to USA Today, she’s filming a dark comedy that’s in Hebrew and French.
The rest of the top 10 are hardly surprising: Olivia Munn, Mila Kunis, Katy Perry, Olivia Wilde, Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Megan Fox, Malin Akerman and Adrianne Palicki. But perhaps most notable on the list, thanks to a write-in campaign, is #69, Stephen Colbert.
You can head over to Maxim for the rest of the 100. But first, stick around here and take a look at 30 hot picks of Bar, who manages to be equally alluring in a tiny bikini as in haute couture or a T-shirt. She manages to ooze sex appeal one minute and then seem completely approachable when she cracks a smile. And for that, we’ll have to agree with the Maxim guys. She is hot.
Katy Perry’s iridescent gown and too-dark lipstick earned her a spot on our worst-dressed list at last night’s Billboard Music Awards. But we neglected to mention that she accessorized the over-the-top ensemble with the cutest of all arm candy: her 91-year-old grandmother, Ann Hudson. Seriously, how much do you adore her bedazzled walking stick?
Anyway, Ann’s presence as Katy’s date makes a lot of sense when you take into account the rumors that she broke up with her very short-term boyfriend, Florence + the Machine guitarist Rob Ackroyd. We only just learned they were dating at Coachella last month! “It wasn’t that serious,” a source told Us Weekly of their hookup and breakup. “It’s not a nasty thing and they are still talking, but Katy told him to do his thing and they’ll talk soon.” Read more…
We absolutely hate perpetuating catfight rumors around here. The idea that women inherently hate each other makes us crazy. But for weeks now, we’ve been hearing stuff about Beyonce dissing her husband’s friend’s girlfriend, Kim Kardashian. To the point that we don’t think we can just stick our fingers in our ears and pretend that nothing’s happening there. Even if we hope that’s still the case. What happened is this: Jay-Z’s best friend TyTy‘s birthday party was in London over the weekend, and, according to MediaTakeout, when Beyonce heard that Kanye West was bringing his new ladyfriend along, she fought with Hov to try to get Kim uninvited. And when that didn’t work, she refused to come.
Any truth to this? Well, we do know that Kimye, Jay-Z, Rihanna, Rita Ora and others were all photographed leaving a private party at DSTRKT club in London on Saturday night. Beyonce was nowhere in sight. You know what else we know? That Beyonce has a 5-month-old baby at home and a major three-night concert gig in Atlantic City coming up on Memorial Day. So maybe, just maybe, jetting off to London didn’t seem like the most important use of her time. Read more…
The folks at MI:6 haven’t made our love for James Bond easy for the past few years — first they totally scrambled our brains with Quantum of Solace (to be fair, I watched that on Ambien on a 12-hour flight), then they threatened to take him away from us permanently, due to all sorts of studio conflicts. But come November 9, we will at last see the return of Daniel Craig’s penetrating stare and tormented, broad shoulders and perfect posture and superhuman skills and smooth voice 007 in Skyfall. The teaser trailer, which premiered today, doesn’t give away much more than we already know: The plot is something about M’s (Judi Dench) past coming back to haunt the agency, and Bond isn’t in a very happy place. The mood of this teaser is unsurprisingly somber (at times reminding us of the trailer for Craig’s other recent dark role in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo). But no amount of bleak interrogation rooms or fast-cut action sequences can suppress the unchangeable fact of Bond, James Bond: He is one sexy, sexy man. Here are 10 moments that prove as much:
1. The above image, which appears as Bond is playing a word-association game in front of a two-way mirror. “Agent,” the interrogator asks. “Provocateur,” he answers. And yum. Read more…
Days after reporting husband Nick Stahl missing, Rose Stahl said the Terminator 3 actor has entered a 30-day rehab program at an undisclosed facility to overcome the worst addiction cycle of his life, she told People. “Now that he is safe, it’s time to focus back on healing,” Rose told the magazine.
Stahl, 32, had been living apart from his wife and their 2-year-old daughter, Marlo. Rose filed papers in February requesting that his visits with their daughter be monitored, citing concerns over his drug use. She filed a missing persons report last week, saying she hadn’t seen him since May 9. But on Saturday, Nick emailed friends saying that he had checked into rehab.
“I gotta lotta hope,” Rose told People in an email of her husband’s recovery, adding that she hadn’t intended to publicize that he was missing.
Stahl got his first big role at 13 in the Mel Gibson movie Man Without a Face and played John Connor in 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines. He also starred in HBO’s Carnivale from 2003-2005. Though Rose said he hasn’t taken any acting gigs in recent months, he has starring roles in three independent movies listed in post-production on IMDb.
We were happy to end our week with this ridiculous image of Will Smith backhanding a Ukrainian reporter who attempted to kiss him at the Moscow premiere of Men in Black III. But then the story got even better. After TMZ posted the video of the incident, which just made us feel much better about every awkward encounter we’ve ever experienced on the red carpet (sooo embarrassing when actors stare blankly at you for asking a question about vampires), we started to dig around to figure out who this reporter was. The site said kissing actors is his shtick. And we found something sooo much better than some guy pulling a Borat impression with unsuspecting Hollywood stars. We are almost certain that the man in question is none other than Vitalii Sediuk. OK, sorry, that name meant nothing to us either. Until we dug a little further and discovered he is the guy who gave Madonna those dreaded hydrangeas at the Venice Film Festival last year. Watch both videos below and we think you’ll be convinced too.
My first instinct is to thank Vitalii, for making the rest of us reporters look good. My second is to want to backhand him ourself. I can just see stars starting to put up plexiglass barricades between themselves and us. When all we really wanted to do is find out whether they prefer True Blood or Twilight.
So, Peter Berg’s Battleship is finally out in the U.S. today. We have been waiting for this moment ever since the cast was announced — and sounded like basically the best-looking cast ever assembled. Alexander Skarsgard, Taylor Kitsch, Brooklyn Decker and Rihanna together in the same movie? Our eyes could hardly believe their luck. Except, well, the reviews are making us second-guess our excitement. It’s got a 36 percent rating on RottenTomatoes.com, with a lot of critics complaining, well, that it’s a loud war movie about aliens and battleships. Well, if you’re on the fence still, or if you absolutely know that loud war movies about alien invasions aren’t your bag, we have an alternative for you. This magnificent gallery of the most beautiful cast ever assembled doing their best to promote the hell out of the flick all over the globe, on magazines ranging from Elle to Men’s Health to something called Stayhard (maybe that means something else in Swedish). However the movie turns out, it will have achieved everything we could ever want: It made these stars get in front of a lot of cameras all spring long.
As fans of Sex and the City, Candace Bushnell’s YA novels The Carrie Diaries, and the entire Josh Schwartz oeuvre, we have had high, high hopes for the CW’s Carrie Diaries. And were pretty heartbroken to learn this week that AnnaSophia Robb wouldn’t be stepping into Carrie Bradshaw’s stilettos until midseason. That’s why we didn’t see any clips of it yesterday, when the new fall TV shows were trotted out for prospective advertisers. But whether by design or by leak, this morning we finally have a trailer. And we really, truly think this will be worth the wait. Here are five reasons why:
The trailer opens with Carrie doing the classic SATC confident walk through Manhattan that makes us positively giddy. Read more…
We’re going to leave it up to the pundits to predict which of the many new shows presented at this week’s network upfronts will rise to the top come fall TV season. All we know is, we may have re-watched the clip of Stephen Amell doing pull-ups in the CW’s Arrow about 10 times this morning. (Sorry, lost count.) Point is, there are a whole lot of new faces for us to ogle — and about as many returning ones we’ve been longing for — on the schedules that were announced this week.

What the hell is going on at 666 Park Avenue (ABC’s new drama)? We can only tell that Vanessa Williams is still devilishly hot, and Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor have the kind of sex appeal that might entice us to sell our souls too. We are squealing with delight at the return of Felicity boys Scott Speedman AND Scott Foley to TV this fall — Speedy’s a naval officer in Last Resort, while Foley’s one of the siblings competing for his father’s fortune in the Fox comedy The Goodwin Games.
Vampire Diaries alum and Lady Gaga ex Taylor Kinney gets extra dirty as a firefighter in NBC’s Chicago Fire. We’re also thrilled to see Smallville’s Kristen Kreuk get her Linda Hamilton on in the CW’s Beauty and the Beast reboot. (That’ll have to do for re-imagined faves on the network, since The Carrie Diaries won’t debut until midseason, grrr.) This season has its share of hot doctors — Jordana Spiro and Zach Gilford in The Mob Doctor; Mamie Gummer, Justin Hartley and Aja Naomi King in Emily Owens M.D.; Mindy Kaling in The Mindy Project; Justin Bartha in The New Normal; Lucy Liu in Elementary, and Justin Kirk (as a vet) in Animal Practice. There are superstars, like country singers Connie Britton and Hayden Panettiere in Nashville, and there are those just struggling to survive, like Revolution’s Billy Burke and Tracy Spiridakos. Let’s not forget the updated versions of TV’s favorite professions: detectives (Jonny Lee Miller’s Sherlock Holmes in Elementary, Kevin Bacon in The Following) and lawyers (Janet Montgomery in Made in Jersey). But like we said, enough talk for now. It’s time to enjoy this eye candy before we have to pick and choose who gets the DVR love at the end of summer.
Though some of us may have wanted to pick sides when we first heard that Katy Perry and Russell Brand were getting divorced, the comedian himself told Ellen DeGeneres that he feels nothing but “love and positivity” for his ex-wife.
“I still love her, as a human being, but sometimes when you’re in a relationship I suppose it doesn’t work out, does it?” he said in an interview for today’s Ellen show. “That doesn’t mean I regret it or anything. I was very happy to be married with her. She’s such a beautiful human being and I have only love and positivity for her.”
His philosophy about the breakup is one we wish we could have the presence of mind to apply to all of our relationships. “You can’t absolutely make everything the way you want it to be in life. Sometimes things are just different, and then you have to just move with that and try and remain in contact with what is beautiful about yourself and with each other.”
