Twilight Saga: New Moon review time! We caught New Moon last night (yes, squeee!), and while the movie will undoubtedly make Twi-hards bubble over with excitement as the title card rolls, the much-anticipated film was filled with moments of ridiculous lines, shots, and less-than-Pixar quality animation. [Ed. note: While Taylor Lautner standing in the rain shirtless, above, may seem to qualify as cheese-tastic, there were far too many squeals of joy in the theater for us to knock it.]
Here are our top five most unintentionally hilarious moments (and yes, there are spoilers up ahead):
5. The animated wolves. If they looked fake on the big screen, we can’t imagine how horrible they’ll be on our 27″ screens on DVD.
Four more Velveeta-licious moments after the jump!
When they first hooked up, the Dawson’s Creek actress and the older, divorced Scientology-loving Top Gun star seemed like an odd match, but Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes are still going strong. The parents of Suri just celebrated their third wedding anniversary! On Saturday night, Tom surprised Katie by booking the entire second floor of Bricco Italian restaurant in Boston. The couple dined on house-made pasta, Chilean sea bass, and Wagyu steak and “held hands the entire night.” So far so good! Check out our gallery of Tom and Katie! Co-stars and rumored-couple Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart have been hopping all over Manhattan the last couple days wrapping up their press tour for New Moon. The pair has consistently tip-toed around the question on the tip of every interviewer’s tongue; whether their steamy onscreen relationship has seeped into their personal lives. Despite leaving Twi-hards with nothing but paparazzi shots of hand-holding and OK! magazine covers to debate, their interviews have proven them to be very likable and amazingly unaffected by their phenomenal fame.
On the “Today Show” this morning, RPattz confirmed every tabloid rumor ever, telling Matt Lauer that in the last year, he’s been engaged, dated constantly, overdosed on drugs, and dated someone named “Listten Hewert.” Before and after the interview, he graciously signed autographs and took photos with the crazed fans that had occupied Rockefeller Center for over 24 hours. See clip above.
After the jump, see Kristen Stewart spill the beans to Jimmy Fallon about Martha Stewart‘s crush on Pattinson and toss a football around. We’ve also rounded up Rob’s appearance on Letterman last night, as well as Kristen on the “Today Show” yesterday.
In the midst of New Moon madness, a trailer has debuted of a more critic-friendly, less-squeal-inducing venture for Kristen Stewart. In Yellow Handkerchief, Stewart takes an unplanned road trip through rural Louisiana with two strangers, William Hurt as an ex-convict and Eddie Redmayne as the awkward driver. The lonely threesome learns to trust each other and share their personal stories. The film has been received well at independent film festivals, and will surely appeal to those who avoid the Twilight phenomenon. We’re getting a feeling that Adventureland is the closest KStew will ever come to a romantic comedy…and that’s pretty refreshing.
Yellow Handkerchief hits select theaters in February 2010.
Did you see your dad on the cover of People magazine? He’s been voted The Sexiest Man Alive! Okay okay, it’s Johnny Depp, but our resident King of Sex Appeal just isn’t doing it for us in this pic. No, it’s not just because we’re biased toward Depp’s heir (and hair) apparent, Robert Pattinson, even if his fake People cover was much sexier than the real thing. Johnny looks puffy and plain, like someone took a photo of him from his Free Winona years and age-progressed it a bit too much.
The actor has already won the coveted title before, in 2003, which leads us to think it might be time for him to retire his crown and hand it off to one of the hunky up and comers lurking in the sexy shadows. Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Chris Pine, the dude who plays Desmond on “Lost”… there are a lot of options out there, People. Maybe next time ask your kids who they think is hot, instead of your grandma. [Photo: People]
If you had Lindsay Lohan‘s parents, a 14-year-old might be the only one you would trust too. After her father Michael Lohan recently released audio tapes that detailed the starlet’s troubled life, it seems that Lindsay only trusts her younger sister Ali. “Lindsay lives out of a lot of hotel rooms these days, and if her sister, Ali, is staying with her, Lindsay wants her to sleep in the same room. She’ll get two rooms, but put all the clothes and luggage in one room. She needs the support and love that having Ali around gives her. Having Ali by her side gives her comfort and she likes to think she is also protecting Ali,” a source says. If she wants to protect her, don’t take her clubbing, even though you think it’s ok! Okay, okay, Twi-hards, no need to get your Edward Cullen undies in a bunch! Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart merely posed for the paps at the premiere of New Moon in Los Angeles last night, while Robert Pattinson avoided perpetuating the Robsten gossip by flying solo down the red carpet. His shocked expression can probably be attributed to the hordes of crazed fans begging him to bite their neck. The entire New Moon cast showed up for the American premiere, including Dakota Fanning, Nikki Reed, Ashley Greene, and Anna Kendrick. Unsurprising Twilight fanatics like Emma Roberts and Jennifer Love Hewitt accompanied the cast on the carpet, as did closeted Twi-hard 50 Cent, proving no one is immune to the vampire craze.
The fashion was “dazzling,” with many of the ladies donning sequins, jewels, and sparkles. The guys went for a Mad Men-esque look with slim-fitting suits and skinny ties.
Missing from the red carpet was Rachelle Leferve, who tweeted “being fired from Eclipse tonight was just 2 emotional 4 me & I couldn’t manage it. So sorry.” Bryce Dallas Howard was cast to replace Leferve as “Victoria” in The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. [Photos: Getty Images]
Hollywood may be all about looks, but these stars sure don’t seem to care about the aging effects of cigarettes. Celebs like Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, and Katherine Heigl loooveeee to light up their Parliaments, Marlboros and Camel Lights. Even though smoking related diseases cause 440,000 deaths in America per year, some celebs just can’t quit puffin’ on their cancer sticks. Others have thankfully kicked the habit. Check out our gallery of celebrity smokers below!
We’ve stared at our share of Kristen Stewart photos, and trust us – the Twilight star has serious style. While she keeps it super casual during her down time, she favors towering heels, super-short hem lines, and edgy mini-dresses while strolling the red carpet. Kristen may have declared herself “skinny fat,” but you wouldn’t know it from her stick-thin legs, which she flaunts with fervor. Low-key hair, smokey eyes and minimal jewelery complete K-Stew’s signature look. Not many stars can manage looking both beautiful and bad-ass (hello, bullet skirt!), but this girl’s got it down.
We’ve picked the best of the actress’ looks – ranging from the 2008 and 2009 VMAs to her recent European press tour promoting New Moon – for our gallery below. Is it any wonder that she caught Robert Pattinson‘s eye? [Photos: GettyImages]
Blake Lively looked like a wedding cake with cleavage at a screening for The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee last night in NYC. Just the kind of relaxing ensemble you want to wear while watching yourself lie naked with Alan Arkin onscreen. “Well, I think it’s uncomfortable, laying in strategically placed clothes that are taped on your body, in front of some strangers,” said Lively about her intimate scenes with the 75-year-old Oscar winner. “We’re all actors, we’re all professionals and we all understood what was happening. Everybody is uncomfortable with those scenes. You’re never going to be comfortable being half-naked in front of anyone. But, it was fine. It was a short scene.”
Sadly, Arkin wasn’t around to share more camera time last night, though co-stars Robin Wright and Keanu Reeves did attend, as well as well-wishers Penelope Cruz, Marion Cotillard and Daniel Day-Lewis, whose wife Rebecca Miller directed the film. Check out their styles in the gallery below.
