While it might’ve just been another scorching-hot, midsummer week for us laypeople, the stars were out and about, doing celebby things! Things like attending Leo DiCaprio‘s Foundation Launch in Saint-Tropez (Cara Delevingne), posing at a the Guardians of the Galaxy premiere (Zoe Saldana), and Taylor-Swifting in the streets of New York (Taylor Swift). Generally, when we get a manicure, it’s at a local salon, costs less than $20, and will probably chip within, oh, one day after getting them done. But for celebrities who probably don’t have to do banal tasks like cleaning, opening bags of chips, or taking out the trash, getting a manicure is a much more decadent affair. From Zooey Deschanel‘s $300 nail art to Toni Braxton‘s $1 million diamond manicure, these women are not messing around when it comes to dressing their talons.
Wigs are freedom! Who doesn’t want to take a break from their God-given mousy brown hair and wear totally unbelievable green curls now and then? Gaga does. Who wouldn’t love to rebel against their long locks and rock a short pixie for a week or so? Mindy Kaling certainly did it. On TV, in the movies, and on the red carpet, celebs have always embraced wigging out — it gives them a chance to try on different personas, stretch their wings and mask receding hairlines. And we love every minute of it.
The world’s super-rich can afford pretty much anything. A gold iPhone case just for kicks? Done. Tiny, unnecessary diamond shavings on a chocolate cake? You got it. So, why is it that some of Earth’s top earners can’t hire…ya know, a stylist?
A hat, generally is a bold statement. Anything other than a baseball cap and you’re really saying something with your headwear. Iconic hat wearers like Samuel L. Jackson and LL Cool J are simply sporting their signature brand, but what about all the other celebrities who, from time to time, dabble in the hat? Whether in the name of fashion, extreme showmanship or attention getting, celebrity hat wearers have a tendency to skip over “appropriate for the occasion” entirely and just go straight to f-ing ridiculous.
The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala might be the one night a year that a fashion forward celebrity wants to wind up on the worst-dressed list. It’s the one night a year when couture walks the red carpet and failures are fawned over. Lupita Nyong’o, Kate Upton and more all surprised, dazzled and disappointed us in different ways last night–and we couldn’t be more thrilled about it!
Fashion’s biggest night is finally here! The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual Costume Institute Gala (aka the Met Ball) is tonight. Sarah Jessica Parker is going, and Gwyneth Paltrow is not, but what we really want to know is who will everyone be talking about more tomorrow? What Kim Kardashian was wearing or what Lupita Nyong’o wore?
Here at VH1, we love everything about celebrities. We love following their careers, dishing on their scandalous love lives and we absolutely adore it when they show up on a red carpet looking like a hot mess! It’s the 2014 MTV Movie Awards and the celebrity arm candy looks sweet and delicious. With one of Hollywood’s biggest nights upon us, you know the stars stepped onto the red carpet looking fierce… and made sure to bring some lovely hotties with them too. So who were the most appealing couples at tonight’s big shindig?
No one wants to be the worst-dressed celebrity on the MTV Movie Awards red carpet. But it’s not enough to look good. After all, this is the MTV Movie Awards so you’ve also got to look young, hip and cool. As a result, celebs take horrible fashion risks. Most of the time, they don’t pay off. We’re sad to say it, but Victoria Justice, Pia Mia Perez and Johnny Knoxville gambled and lost. Here it is, folks: The worst-dressed celebrities at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards!
