We took a look at the women who are establishing themselves as the action heroines of the future, as well as some actresses from whom we want to see more onscreen butt-kicking. Did we miss anyone on our list? Check out our gallery and then let us know!
As ifThe Hunger Games weren’t amazing enough, we got a sneak peek at Breaking Dawn – Part 2in the previews beforehand (watch it above!), in which Bella is finally an ass-kicking, vegetarian vampire. And since we’re such Twilight geeks around here, we’re gonna give you our thoughts on the 90 seconds of goodness.
1. We love vampire Bella, and we love her in blue. We’re desperate to see her actually annihilate something, and while we didn’t quite get a serious smack-down in the trailer, we drooled while watching her stalk that deer. Oh, Volturi, we look forward to your demise at the hands of our dear Bella Swan Cullen.
2. Is it just us, or does Edward’s voice sound extra, uh, turned on by vampire Bella? It’s got a growl to it that was more contained when Bella was human. And while we loved the honeymoon love scenes in Breaking Dawn: Part 1, we’re wayyyyy more excited about the vamp-on-vamp action that awaits us in this flick. Yes, we’re pervs, and we suspect some of you are too. Bring on the cabin in the woods!
3. Well hello there, Jacob. What a saunter you have! Taylor Lautner‘s all man these days and yeah, we’re into it. So what?
What we want for the next teaser trailer: More action, please! We finally get to see Bella’s powers at work in this film, so come on, give us the goods! Battle scenes would be much appreciated. And we’re desperate to see Edward and Bella as parents with a wee Renesmee under their wings. Sigh. How long is it til November?
Remember that time in Twilight when Edward Cullen was a jaded young billionaire who liked to play with guns and have dirty sex in his limo on the way to get his haircut? Um, well, no. Robert Pattinson‘s not really channeling his sensitive hero to play Eric Packer in David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis. From what we can tell after seeing the teaser for the movie, a French-subtitled version making the rounds today, he’s playing someone harder than a vampire’s glittery skin. “Show me something I don’t know,” he tells the half-naked woman pointing a gun at his chest, his accent kind of reminding us of Robert De Niro’s in Taxi Driver.
What we do know is that, as much as RPattz may want to shed Edward Cullen and attract a new audience to his work with his role, the Twi-hards are going to follow him through whatever left turns he takes in his career. Witness Cosmopolis’ surprise win in MTV’s Movie Brawl in January. The dark twistiness of a Cronenberg film may come as a shock to some Twilight fans, but not to those grownup ones who, after all, are devoted to a series about young people who drink blood to live forever. So now we’re going to play a little game called Twilight/Not Twilight with this teaser.
We KNOW it’s called a teaser trailer for a reason, OK. We get it. But these 15 seconds teasing the teaser trailer for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 2 have driven us in a bit of tizzy as we wait for the full teaser to run before The Hunger Games this Friday. We’re worried about what this is going to do for our sanity. Let’s see what we have in here. A vampiric figure bolting through the forest, who we know is Bella (Kristen Stewart, FTW!), but we can’t see her face. We go Taylor Lautner looking as hot as ever, saying, “I didn’t expect you to seem so … you.” We have a ring shot which we all love, right? And we got Edward (Robert Pattinson, yea-aah!) looking tenderly at Bella’s face — which they don’t show —and saying, “We’re the same temperature now.” Yes, it’s a teaser … but they’re taking the teasing a little too seriously. Because we need more!
Another day, another fabulous Paris Fashion Week event for Kristen Stewart. Flaunting her famously twiggy legs in a Louis Vuitton leopard print minidress, Kris showed up to the opening of “Louis Vuitton – Marc Jacobs: The Exhibition” with boytoy Robert Pattinson in tow. Our girl has been looking better than ever…but what’s that we see? Un peu case of bedhead? Perhaps tousled by Rob? Blame those LV Merry-Go-Round pumps.
Kristen Stewart showed up at the Balenciaga Fall 2012 runway show for Paris Fashion Week today missing two of her trademarks: her beloved sneakers, and vamp boyfriend Robert Pattinson! Luckily she did remember to bring her killer sense of style, as she strutted to the show in awesome high waisted leather pants. Left over from The Runaways shoot, perhaps?
But we’ve got even more exciting news comin’ atcha from K-Stew land. The poster for her long awaited film On The Road was released yesterday, as well as some new stills from the feature! Check ‘em out in the gallery below. We’re counting down the days until the star studded Jack Kerouac adaptation hits the big screen. Are you?
It’s been a busy few days in the world of celeb hair! Last night our beloved Robert Pattinson arrived to the Berlin premiere of Bel Ami looking balder than usual. We know he jettisoned his trademark unruly locks back in January when he appeared at the People’s Choice Awards. But they definitely should have grown in by now, and yet he looks balder than ever!
Kardashian Version 2.0 sister Kendall Jenner posted a pic to her twitter showing off long blonde tresses in the place of her usual brunette. But before we got too used to it, she posted a second photo, dark locks restored. “Still brunette! Don’t worry kids!” We’d been duped. You just can’t trust the Kardashians. She and her little sister Kylie were seen out and about wearing the blonde wigs. Trying to throw off the paparazzi? Or attract attention? The world may never know.
Both of these style changes follow Miley Cyrus‘ dramatic chop earlier this week. She posted a picture to her own twitter on Sunday showing off her new hair ‘do, which definitely seems to be remeinicent of Jennifer Aniston’s famous Friends-era hair. “You likey?” she asked. Well, do you? Get a closer look in the gallery below, and take our poll to let us know who you think works their new look the best!
Taylor Lautner is such a commodity these days, he just can’t keep up. And neither can we. Despite turning down leading roles as Goliath, Max Steel and Stretch Armstrong due to scheduling conflicts, Taylor’s still smiling. The Twilight hottie still has a whole lot to be happy about too. As if weren’t great enough to be named one of People’s Most Amazing Bodies last year, Taylor’s seeing the checks role in from the $280 million-grossing box office smash The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1. And while Abduction was a disappointment at the box office, it was a good first step in showing Taylor’s ability to step out from under Twilight’s shadow. Today, the budding Hollywood star turns 20, and we invite all of Team Jacob to celebrate. And since we’ve all seen plenty of his bare torso over the past two years, we thought we’d change it up and show off his other assets: those pearly whites. Enjoy!
Kristen Stewart’s got a big year of publicity ahead for her, what with Snow White and the Huntsman out in June, Breaking Dawn Part 2 in November and On the Road set for sometime in 2012. So we imagine the big photo shoot she did with Mario Testino and Karl Lagerfeld in Paris for Vanity Fair is just the beginning of her many amazing shoots in the coming months. E! has the pics of her all dolled up and 19th-centuryish in a huge Christian Dior couture gown with a huge fascinator as she posed with horses in the park. After the jump, we present you with a closeup of her makeup for the shoot, and a shot of her in another outfit as she chats with Lagerfeld in a cafe (can you get any more Parisian than that?). The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 was beloved by fans for a lot of reasons: the wedding, the honeymoon, the honeymoon, the honeymoon, and a whole lot of drama and blood and guts at the end. But it was still lagging behind its older Twilight siblings in box office numbers. New Moon had a bigger opening weekend ($142.8 million vs. $138.1 million), and both Eclipse and New Moon had bigger overall domestic box office grosses (Eclipse raked in $300.5 million, New Moon $296.6 million, Breaking Dawn Part 1 $280.3 million), according to BoxOfficeMojo.com.
But per Deadline, Summit announced that the global box-office gross for the fourth flick is $701.3 million so far, and once the final tallies are in, including the receipts from China and Japan, it will top New Moon’s $709.8 million worldwide gross. So is that a big vote for Bill Condon from the international audience? Does it reflect the gradual growth of Twilight fandom over the years (we imagine young kids catching onto their older sisters’ enthusiasm, friends giving into other friends’ relentless endorsements, etc.)? Is it the lure of Edward and Bella finally doing it? That extra foreign boost usually goes to big, explosive action movies that don’t need a whole lot of translation, and Eclipse was the movie with all the big battle scenes, so we’re curious about this number. Share your theories in the comments and on Twitter! And while you’re at it, let us know what you’re excited to rewatch when Part 1 comes out on DVD and Blu-Ray on February 11.
