Stars Celebrate Inauguration At Youth Ball
Although the Neighborhood Ball brought the glam, the Youth Ball was the place to be for the young and fresh. Hundreds of 18 to 35 year olds swarmed the Washington Hilton for the soiree, and some waited outside in the cold for an hour to get inside, even though they had tickets.
Celebrities like Tobey Maguire, Ashton Kutcher, and Rosario Dawson sported black tie, but many partygoers opted for jeans, reflecting the young vibe at the party.
Star performances included Kid Rock and Kanye West who performed a montage of his hits including "Stronger" and "Heartless," while Demi Moore, in a shoulderless black gown, snuggled with hubby Ashton and R&B star Usher mingled with excited college students.
President Obama and wife Michelle took the stage at 10:30, as partygoers chanted "Obama" and "Yes, we can!"
Obama greeted the party by saying, "I’ve been looking forward to this ball for quite some time," and credited the crowd for their influence in his win in the election by being "a new generation inspiring a previous generation." [Photos: Getty Images]
